Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebecca Sabine Ramsey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebecca Sabine, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I believe that beautiful music and meditation go together. Although I had the honor of performing with Celine Dion for 8 years and many other celebrities throughout my musical career as a professional violinist, my most meaningful project to me personally has been performing my own Violin Sound Sanctuary ® programs. I play my violin and guide meditations for people in a variety of settings; from yoga studios, luxury spas, spiritual centers, inner-city elementary schools, and nature retreats to meditations in concert and national conventions. I have been touched by the awakening peace that envelops those who gather in those shared spaces, having chosen to step back temporarily from their busy lives and set aside some time to meditate and listen deeply to music.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am proud to say that over the past 40 years, I have performed in Las Vegas as a professional violinist for the greatest artists in the music business: Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga, and many other superstars, past and present, including an 8-year residency at Caesar’s Palace with Celine Dion.
On a day trip to nearby Zion National Park in 2000, however, I discovered my true passion in life. While gazing up to the towering red cliffs of the canyon, I was inspired from the imagery and symbolism of nature found in nature to composed and record my first CD, The Stone Sanctuary, Silhouettes of Zion.
Later, when I was asked to perform this music for cancer patients at a day spa retreat, I combined the presentation with a guided visualization for relaxation and stress relief that I had learned in yoga classes. That was the beginning of what was to become my own company, Violin Sound Sanctuary ®
In 2020, I received a Ford Musician Impact Fund award through the League of American Orchestras to support the outdoor filming of meditation videos for my Violin Sound Sanctuary ® youtube channel. Collaborating with my son, composer/producer Aaron Ramsey, our Sea of Light album of meditation music is streaming on Pandora, Spotify, and the Insight Timer meditation app with over 40K listens.
As a certifed mindfulness meditation teacher, I now present live Violin Meditations for the spa industry as a member of the Wellness Team at the Red Rock Spa by Well&Being in Las Vegas.
I also offer livestream meditations for corporate retreats. Since, as far as I know, what I do as a classical violinist/meditation guide is very unique. In order to best describe it, here is a comment that I just recently received from a senior manager.
“Rebecca, thank you for a wonderful mix of guided meditation and violin playing at our company holiday party. Our entire team enjoyed it and appreciated learning how to mindfully embrace the holidays – very helpful. Meditation was a first-time experience for many on the team. The beautiful sounds of the violin along with your calm, collected, and compassionate presence struck the right balance between gentle guidance and letting the participants learn what works for them.”
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
As a musician/composer/meditation teacher, what I do is in service to others. I am not interested in playing my violin at home for my own enjoyment. Whenever I am planning my next performance, whether it will be live or online, I am always imagining the people that I will be talking to and playing for. The way I look at it, the gift of music has meaning only when there is someone there to hear it. So that is the mission of my creative journey.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The major lesson that I had to learn is to keep in mind what other people are needing or asking for. When I first recorded The Stone Sanctuary, Silhouettes of Zion, I funded it myself and it cost me my savings, about $20,000. I believed so much in the project that I never gave a thought to how difficult it was going to be to sell enough CD’s to pay myself back!
I had pictured that the gift store in the National Park would carry it, but the meeting with the store manager ended up in disappointment. Then I tried to sell them at art fairs, even having my own tent outside. I found out the hard way that no one wanted T-shirts either. (I ended up donating them to goodwill)
Eventually, I sold all of the 1500 CDs that I had printed, but it took me 20 years to do it. Now, of course, CDs are a thing of the past. I don’t worry about selling music at all anymore since it is so easy to find it online for free.
