We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Ridner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
While I have deep respect for the coaching industry, I found that the title didn’t quite align with me. Being a muse felt like the perfect role. It resonates with me more than traditional coaching because it allows me to tap into a different kind of inspiration and support for artists and creatives. While coaching is valuable and important, I found that the term didn’t fully capture the essence of what I aim to do.
As a muse, I can offer a more tailored and personalized form of encouragement and inspiration. Instead of purely guiding individuals, I thrive on igniting their creative spark, being their biggest cheerleader, and offering a unique form of inspiration that aligns more closely with their artistic vision and aspirations. The role of a muse feels more fluid, allowing me to foster creativity and passion in a way that feels authentic and personalized to each individual’s creative journey.
Rebecca, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I strongly believe the world could use more successful artists and creatives—people doing what they absolutely love and getting paid well for it. I have always loved when people get paid for their passions or being themselves. I truly think that is how life should be.
Early on, I realized I have a knack for recognizing people’s gifts, encouraging them, and guiding them toward pursuing what truly ignites their fire. I believe we all know want we want to contribute to the world and why we’re here, but sometimes, a little inspiration and guidance go a long way.
I fell in love with the concept of being a muse. The idea of being a cheerleader and a source of inspiration for artists and creatives felt like a perfect fit. Each Muse session is crafted to specifically cater to the needs of the individual creator.
I love looking into someones soul and seeing the version of them they know they can be. The world would be a much better place if we all had someone to fully believe in us. That’s where I step in.
I offer Muse sessions, Online and in person workshops, Playdates, Field trips, and Intuitive Counseling
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Expanding my client base has largely come from embracing my authentic self and following my inner guidance. I’ve found that by staying true to who I am and doing what excites me, I naturally attract like-minded individuals who resonate with my work. There is no better way to have your ideal clientele than to just be yourself! Trusting my instincts has led me to connect with creatives who I connect well with and appreciate my approach.
When I approach my offerings from a place of authenticity, I communicate my enthusiasm more effectively. This seems to easily draw people who are needing my services. Of course it’s easy to put yourself out there with social media. It’s not just about offering a service but building connections based on trust and shared passions. Following my intuition and pursuing what excites me is the same advice I give my creatives and has never lead me astray. It’s the key to muse energy.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Realizing that there’s a possibility to earn from virtually anything has been an eye-opener for me. It’s this realization that your wildest, craziest ideas—the ones nestled deep in your heart and mind—hold immense value. Understanding that there’s a place in the world for these unique concepts has been transformative..
That crazy idea? It’s not just a passing thought; it’s a sign. It’s what sets you apart and resonates with the world in a way only you can understand. Embracing it and recognizing that it’s something the world craves from you—your distinct perspective, your innovation—the best mindset you could have. The universe will open up a place for your unique dream as soon as you accept it. There is space for everyone.
Knowing that these seemingly wild notions have a place and can even be monetized has been incredibly empowering. It’s a reminder that our individuality and the unconventional notions we carry within us hold incredible potential.
