Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Becky Raisman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Becky, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’ve released two singles “Summertime Sugar’ and ‘Hyptonized”, released two EPs This Is My Moment and Cruising. As of this moment I’m working on my 3rd EP Warrior soon to be released at the end of the year. I’m in a rock band with School of Rock in Mount Pleasant, SC they opened this year, I went to an open house grand opening and the owner Matt McFarland told me the adult band didn’t have a vocalist so I signed up right then and there. We had our first show in April.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
went to Columbia College Chicago class of 2007
Im a singer and keyboard player and lesbian. I write lyrics I’m orginally from the Chicagoland area Highland Park and Waukegan, I even recorded at Omnisound studios in Nashville and Charleston sound studios. I’m also a Columbia college Chicago alumni class of 2007. I studied with different voice teachers like Tamara Anderson, Jeffrey Morrow he was vocal producer for Empire, and Randy Buescher. I took lessons at School of Rock in Libertyville, IL for keyboard I first started out at Family piano company in Waukegan, Illinois then 2018 I moved to south Carolina and continued keyboard lessons at Lowcountry music lessons now I’m at Bach to Rock. I took an online music business class through Yellowbrick Music NYU Clive Davis Recorded Music Institute I’ve performed at open mics, competed in singing contests at bars and restaurants and online.
I recorded at 4U Recording studios in Memphis in May and will be recording in October in Atlanta “Summertime Sugar is on spotify, itunes, tik tok played on digital radio, iheart radio, cumulus. Recorded my 2nd EP Cruising at Audio Wave Recording and Solar Sound Studios. Working on 3rd EP at Charleston Sound Studios.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I post a lot on social media about what I have been up to. I contact blogs, digital magazines, radio statuons my music stuff, I also do a lot of word of mouth, I tell people, show them my Spotify, Apple, and they check it out and they tell their friends. I also autograph my CDs and take pictures with my fans.
