We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Mousseau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rebecca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

We work with different charity organizations to provide hair and makeup services and some of the most meaningful work I’ve done is work with underprivileged kids.
In our every day life, we provide elevated beauty services for luxury clients and brides in Palm Beach and destinations world-wide. I love the creativity, adventure and joy we bring to our clients. I love creating something beautiful that they’ve been dreaming up for months and I love the excitement when they see their final look. I’m honored to work with such incredible women around the world. However working with children who don’t have a lot is something that’s dear to my heart and something entirely different.
One charity we work with in particular is The Selfless Love Foundation. They help foster children find their forever home and they help children who have aged out of the foster system, find stability with a safe place to live.
They’ve created a system to empower and encourage these youth to dream big and work toward their goals, providing resources needed to get them there. Being a part of this is so meaningful and rewarding. To see the excitement in their eyes as they get hair and makeup services done is full-filling. It’s nice to see we can help create happy moments for children who have been through so much. In that moment, they’re happy and excited and my heart just bursts for them. To hear them speak of their own struggles in life can be heart breaking but I feel it’s an opportunity to encourage and empower them to believe that they can do anything they put their mind too. To be able to hug and spread love and joy when we’re with these beautiful children, is something nothing can replace.

I’m the founder of Phairis Luxury, a high-end bridal beauty brand specializing in elevated, on-location hair and makeup experiences for modern, discerning brides. With over 18 years in the industry, my journey began with a deep passion for artistry and a desire to make women feel confident, seen, and beautiful in life’s most meaningful moments. I trained with John Paul Mitchell Systems early in my career, which gave me a strong technical foundation, but it was my commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and love for people that truly shaped my path.

Over the years, I’ve grown Phairis Luxury into a six-figure, internationally traveled bridal beauty team, serving clients in Palm Beach, Miami, and destinations worldwide. We specialize in luxury bridal hairstyling and makeup artistry, offering a seamless, concierge-level experience from the initial inquiry through the wedding day. Our services are tailored for brides who value professionalism, calm energy, refined aesthetics, and a team that understands the importance of both the details and the overall experience.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

One of the most defining moments of resilience in my journey came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the wedding and events industry was brought to a complete standstill almost overnight. As a bridal beauty business owner, my entire calendar was built around weddings, travel, and in-person experiences — and suddenly, everything was canceled or postponed indefinitely.

I remember watching months of bookings disappear within weeks. Brides were heartbroken, timelines were uncertain, and there was a level of emotional weight that went far beyond business. It wasn’t just about lost income — it was about supporting clients through one of the most disappointing and unpredictable seasons of their lives, while also navigating my own.

But that season forced me to grow in ways I never would have otherwise. Instead of shutting down, I leaned in. I focused on strengthening my systems, refining the client experience, and re-evaluating every aspect of my brand. I stayed connected to my brides, offering flexibility, reassurance, and grace as they rescheduled sometimes multiple times. That commitment to showing up — even when things were uncertain — became a cornerstone of my business.

At the same time, the industry as a whole began to evolve. Weddings became more intentional, more intimate, and more personalized. Brides became more discerning, valuing not just the final look, but the experience and the energy of the people they chose to surround themselves with. I adapted alongside that shift, elevating Phairis Luxury into a more refined, high-touch, concierge-level service that aligned with what clients truly needed coming out of that season.

The comeback didn’t happen overnight, but when it came, it was powerful. There was a renewed appreciation for celebrations, for beauty, and for the role we play in such meaningful moments. My business didn’t just recover — it grew into something stronger, more intentional, and more aligned than before.

That season taught me that resilience isn’t just about pushing through — it’s about rebuilding with clarity, leading with empathy, and having the discipline to evolve when everything around you changes. It reinforced my ability to lead under pressure, serve at a higher level, and trust that even in uncertainty, there is always an opportunity to rise.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Yes, absolutely. A major driving force behind my creative mission is the joy and transformation I get to witness in my clients. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about seeing a bride light up when she looks in the mirror and truly feels like the best version of herself. That moment never gets old for me — it’s a reminder of why I started and why I continue to push myself creatively. Their grateful hugs and laughter is the reward.

Destination weddings, in particular, have become a huge source of inspiration. I’ve always loved to travel, and being part of these celebrations in beautiful, often unfamiliar locations brings a unique energy that you simply can’t replicate. There’s an elevated sense of excitement, intention, and emotion — not just for the couple, but for everyone involved. That atmosphere naturally pushes me to think differently, to adapt to new environments, climates, and aesthetics, and to create looks that feel cohesive with the setting while still honoring each bride’s individuality.

That combination of travel, emotion, and artistry allows me to continually stretch my creativity. It challenges me to evolve, refine my techniques, and stay inspired rather than stagnant. More than anything, it reinforces that what I do is not just about beauty — it’s about creating an experience and a memory that my clients carry with them long after the wedding day is over.
