We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rebecca Martin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rebecca below.
Rebecca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
At YogaSix Long Beach & Cypress we focus on creating community within our four walls. We see long term friendships developed and overall support for one another. We had a member who had recently lost a very dear friend. She always comes to the same class each week and the other members in the class put together a little gift for her to make sure she knew she was loved and had support during the challenging time of grief. This is pure magic.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am someone who has always been in love with movement and all that it offers the mind and body. I grew up a dancer and I truly learned to have so much appreciation for the body and all that it can do. About 6-7 years ago I switched from teaching full time to running workout studios for a lovely couple who owned multiple franchises. I quickly learned that I loved the opportunity to share movement with so many people and help support a team to continue furthering the reach. My family decided to begin our own franchise journey to optimize family time and to create a new challenge. We chose to open multiple YogaSix locations. We chose this because yoga is a beautiful form of movement that is truly accessible to all. We believe everyone deserves a place to feel welcomed, supported, and confident to move and grow. Our studios provide classes for all levels and a community focused environment to help create connections. We are so grateful and proud of the incredible humans that our studios have attracted on both the staff and member side. We are truly amazed by the people who walk through our doors everyday. It’s special and we are so honored to have been able to take this path.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I am a co-owner of two businesses with my husband and my mom. Coming together made complete sense because we all thrive and bring different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Owning a business is truly a very dynamic experience. Having people with different areas of knowledge has been absolutely crucial. Also, trusting each other and learning together.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I believe that seeing people on your team as more than a team member but truly a complete human. Know about their lives and how you can support them. It is important to understand that work takes up a large portion of our lives. Enjoying and believing in what you are doing is so important.
