We were lucky to catch up with Rebecca Major recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Rebecca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

I wish I would have started my business sooner! I absolutely love being in business for myself and I feel so amazing when I hit milestones or make certain accomplishments. I officially started my business in February of 2022, but I had to wait until I finished esthetician school to actually use my license. Honesty, I wish I would have done this 10 years ago, but hindsight is 20/20 and I am still young!

In reality, I did start my business at the perfect time. I had been in Florida for a year when I started my makeup company and I had to work really hard as soon as I decided to become a business owner. I still work HARD, but I give everything I do 1000% and I would rather work for myself with that kind of work ethic! I have no regrets because when I was younger, I would not have had the confidence or experience to handle the day-to-day obstacles that sometimes arise. I am a firm believer on things happening in life when they are supposed to.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Rebecca Major and I am the owner of Rebecca Major Makeup. I am a makeup artist and instructor that makes it my priority to empower other women through the use of cosmetics and proper techniques. I specialize in Pageantry, Weddings, Runway/Modeling, Costume and other Special Occasion Makeup.

Many of my clients love to take makeup lessons with me because they are unsure of the methods they should be using for applying makeup to themselves on a day-to-day basis. I am able to help my wonderful clients that have skin concerns, such as wrinkles, hooded eye-lids, dry skin, etc. It is such a wonderful gift to me whenever I see the sparkle in my client’s eyes when they learn something new and they know how to flawlessly put their makeup on by the end of the lesson.

I also love the reaction of my clients when I turn their chair around to look in the mirror after I have applied their makeup. As I am applying makeup to them, I love seeing the look finally coming together and I anticipate their reaction because I know they are going to be ecstatic. This means everything to me! When I have someone that starts taking 1000 selfies or keeps staring in the mirror at themselves, I know I did my job correctly!

I believe what sets me apart from other makeup artists is that I really get to know my clients and I really care about them. I love helping people feel confident and strong, whether they are about to get on stage or walk down the aisle at their wedding. . I also like to give my clientele a luxury experience. I pamper them when they come to my salon suite by giving them a glass of prosecco or a mimosa and I have almost put some clients to sleep with my soft touch! I have had many clients tell me that they feel so relaxed when I am doing their makeup!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Word of mouth has been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele. When I get someone who has had a wonderful experience with me, they do not mind sharing my information to others. They feel confident in referring me and I get several clients from referrals. Reviews from my clientele are also worth their weight in Gold. They really help me get my name out and prove that I am a legitimate and professional makeup artist.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I believe the quality of my work, my work-ethic and my customer service are the elements that have helped me build my reputation. Clients really pay attention to the small things that you do during the service that makes them feel special and I love giving them a top-notch experience.
