We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Diak a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Hard work has been instilled in me from a very young age. Maybe without knowing it, the grown-ups in my family showed me what it was like to learn, build and be proud. No matter what it was; duct work in the elementary schools, the train village on Christmas, or the immaculate carving of the turkey on thanksgiving.. they were proud. They enjoyed the ride & that’s what made it fun!
I’ve always enjoyed the process most. I’m a Graphic designer, so at first I branded Youngstone as a dream–and knowing I could do it, starting the damn thing in. real. life.
Youngstone was born from my mothers maiden name, Young, and my connection with her Dad–my Grandpa Paul. My grandparents own a house on Lake Erie, where the family comes together to make memories and collect stones, sea glass, and other beach treasures. Since I’d been visiting my whole life–I had jars and jars full of stones that I may otherwise not use.. what if I could elevate these treasures and make them wearable art?
I’ve always used accessories to express myself, so now I could create my own, start to finish, for others to express themselves in!

Rebecca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Rebecca, a full time graphic designer that longs to be creative in every part of life. While in school, the class was assigned an imaginary branding project, and at the time I was extremely interested in silversmithing. The year prior, I solo roadtripped to a handful of states and found myself collecting rings from all over the US. Soo why not create a brand and learn to make my own?!
A professor at my University was a previous jeweler, and she was gracious enough to show me the basics of smithing in her home studio. I am forever grateful!
Youngstone’s scope consists of custom, handcrafted silver jewelry including rings, pendants, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Some pieces are all silver and others feature
ethical, precious stones from all around the country.
I connect with customers on my website, Instagram, Facebook, and I take part in many maker markets. Seeing people interact with my work brings me so much joy!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission of Youngstone Studio is to inspire others to express themselves through nature driven pieces. As well as encouraging people to get outside!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
In any business, word of mouth is truly amazing. To start, having even a few people that believe in your work and scope as much as you do is a huge boost. I’ve found that in person markets & shows are the best way to get my word out as a jewelry business and social media is a great way to stay in contact with those you meet in person!
