Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebecca DeMarce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebecca, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
After working for other salon concepts for 17 years I decided to open my own salon. I wish I would have done it so much sooner. The team environment we’ve created is amazing. I love the freedom I have to treat my employees to things they deserve.

Rebecca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began the beauty industry as an apprentice. Through the years I worked my way up to upper management in a large salon group. My true love of the beauty industry is that our one purpose is to make people look and feel great. How many people can say that?

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
Hair Depot was not even open for a full year when we had a mandatory shut down. We were closed for nine weeks. I still had bills to pay, and my savings was okay but not significant. When we were able to open back up to the public there was $98.00 in our salon bank account. Talk about just getting by.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Treat your team like family. You spend more time with your team than you do at home. If I’m winning they’re winning and vice versa. I enjoy treating my salon family to vacations, prizes, lunches, and high fives. Keep morale up by putting in the work. I take the garbage out and scrub toilets. I’m part of the team, too. My previous work culture consisted of treating upper management and forgetting about the ones grinding everyday, I will never work by that culture.
