We recently connected with Rebecca Brashewitz and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Hi, I’m Rebecca Brashewitz—most people call me Reba—and I’m the founder of Reba Media & Marketing (RMM). My mission is to offer a personalized, results-driven marketing experience that bridges the gap between hiring a full-time employee and working with a traditional agency. At RMM, I partner with a select number of clients so we can truly invest in their success—not just as service providers, but as an extension of their team.
My roots are in creativity. From childhood, I was always drawing, painting, and building things visually. That love for design led me to explore Graphic Design and Coding in middle school, and I continued developing those skills throughout high school and college. But as I began working in the field, I found another passion—analytics. I learned how data and design can work hand-in-hand to drive meaningful results, and that’s where my marketing approach really took shape.
Today, I use a blend of creativity and strategic insight to help small businesses and entrepreneurs grow. Whether it’s running targeted Google Ads campaigns, building responsive websites, or designing branded content, I focus on creating solutions that are both visually compelling and performance-driven.
Many of my clients come to me because they’re stuck between two options: hiring a full-time marketer (which may not be financially feasible), or working with a big agency that lacks personal investment. I created RMM to fill that gap. My clients get tailored marketing packages that meet their needs—nothing watered down, no generic strategies. Just thoughtful, collaborative work that treats their business like it’s my own.
My toolkit includes platforms like HubSpot, Salesforce, Odoo, MailChimp, BeePro, WordPress, Wix, and Google Ads—plus a deep knowledge of analytics tools that help me prioritize what actually moves the needle. I’m here to simplify marketing and make it accessible for businesses that want big results without big overhead.
At the heart of it, RMM is about empowerment. I love helping business owners feel confident in their brand, proud of their online presence, and excited about their future. Whether you need a full campaign strategy or just someone to finally make your website work for you—I’m here to help.
Rebecca, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Sure! I’m Reba, the founder of Reba Media & Marketing (RMM), based just outside of Baltimore, Maryland. I started RMM because I saw a huge gap in the marketing world—small businesses needed personalized support, but most could only choose between hiring an expensive full-time employee or getting lost in the shuffle with a big agency. I wanted to create something in the middle—something more personal, more flexible, and more invested in your success.
My background is a blend of creativity and strategy. I grew up immersed in the arts, and that early passion for design led me to study graphic design and coding from a young age. But what really set me on my current path was discovering how much data matters. Once I started working professionally, I realized the real magic happens when design, messaging, and analytics work together to drive results.
At RMM, I offer services like:
Strategic brand development
Web design and optimization
Google Ads management
Social media marketing
Email campaigns
Analytics and performance tracking
I love working with business owners who want someone who gets it—someone who can step in, understand your vision, and create a plan that’s actually built for your business (not just copied from a template). Whether you’re a small healthcare practice trying to reach new patients, a real estate team building your online presence, or a family-owned winery needing a website refresh—I’ve probably worked in your space and can help you cut through the noise.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Many of them tell me I feel like an in-house team member, not an outside contractor—and that’s exactly what I strive for. I want you to feel seen, supported, and excited about what’s next.
Ultimately, my brand is built on relationships. I don’t work with just anyone—I take on a select number of clients so I can stay hands-on and provide the kind of attention and quality your business deserves. RMM isn’t just a service—it’s a partnership.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When I first started Reba Media & Marketing, there was no investor or fancy startup fund—just a full-time job, a side hustle, and a lot of determination. I stayed at my full-time marketing role while building RMM after hours, slowly laying the groundwork for something of my own.
It all really began when I left a previous employer where I had been a one-woman marketing team. I had built and managed their brand from the ground up, so when I left, it was tough watching a new employee struggle to understand and carry out the vision I had created. I wasn’t quite ready to jump into a new full-time job—I just wanted to make sure the torch was passed efficiently and that the brand I had poured so much into would stay on track. I approached them about staying on part-time, but instead, they suggested I launch my own company and return as a contractor.
After a lot of thought (and some internal pep talks), I decided to go for it. I sat down with them, mapped out a monthly contract, and officially launched RMM as a part-time business. Of course, there were some startup costs—things like website hosting, software subscriptions, and legal fees—but I was in a good financial position and was able to cover those expenses comfortably while still working full-time.
From there, I started sharing my work on social media and quickly picked up a few additional clients. About a year later, my original client wanted more hours, and new inquiries were coming in steadily. That’s when I knew it was time to take the leap—and I made RMM my full-time business.
It wasn’t about big funding or flashy launches. It was about building something sustainable, rooted in passion and experience. And looking back, I’m proud of how it all started—because every piece of it was earned.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Hilariously enough… people I was once employed by! I can’t seem to get rid of them—or maybe they just don’t want to get rid of me. Either way, it’s been a full-circle kind of journey. Some of my best clients are former employers who saw my work ethic firsthand and decided they’d rather partner with me than replace me.
Outside of that, referrals have been huge. People who know me—who know how hard I work, how much I care, and how seriously I take my clients’ success—have been kind enough to pass my name along. And for those who are new to working with me, I let my work speak for itself. I show up, deliver exceptional results, and treat their business like it’s my own. That kind of commitment builds trust quickly—and trust is what keeps clients coming back.
