We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebeca & Andrew a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rebeca &, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
We just believe in what we do and believe in each other. We have both been trained by top professionals in the industry and regardless of the subject matter or client we always make sure we deliver our best. After all they are believing in us and our small business so we must deliver a top service in a saturated marketplace. It is our name on the door so we must always deliver a top experience.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Rebeca and I were two photographers that were in different parts of New York. When we met I was living in New York City and she was in Orange County, NY. When we met that day in Pennsylvania little did we know that 7 years later we would have our own flourishing photography business. We were both working independently as photographers for other studios in and around NY. After we decided to be together we also decided to combine our photography talents. Our skills compliment one another professional and in our home life. We are the true definition of a team effort. The perfect blend of new technology with the old-school mentality of running a business.
Our services and combined past experience cover a wide range of photography. Portraits, Weddings, Events, Architectural, Food, Lifestyle, Clothing, Products and more have been photographed in our studio or on location. Our reviews tell a story about two people who really care about our jobs. We realize that no job is the same so are constantly working with clients to customize the photography to fit their needs.
We are not a cookie cutter photography company and we are always telling our clients that you get us, what we do, what we stand for and nothing less. Our photos have been featured in major magazines, newspapers, countless blogs and more.
We want people to call us, meet us and talk to us. We welcome all communication and feedback on our work. I have always enjoyed meeting people because everyone has a story to tell and whether we photograph it or not its part of life and we can all learn from each others experiences.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
While traveling to photograph a hotel in Pennsylvania I was looking for a way to kill a half a day. A staff member of the location I was working told me about a man made tree house that was only accessible via a hiking trail. This was no ordinary tree house as it was custom built by an Architect as an art installation. I set off with my camera and wanted to check it out.
While roaming the trails and enjoying the break from work I came across two women admiring a waterfall. One of them starting talking to me about photography and introduced her friend as a photographer as well. We chatted a few minutes, exchanged some very brief info (after all we were in the woods) and went on our ways. That night I received a message about the meeting and the rest is history. Rebeca and I spoke on the phone for months and then starting dating. We were inseparable and decided to live together in my apartment in Greenwich Village. While I was about ready to leave my city we decided to move to Westchester NY which is only 20 miles from my downtown apartment. We combined our skills as photographers, started our business and haven’t looked back… We also got a dog who is our favorite model!
