We recently connected with Reanna Aguirre and have shared our conversation below.
Reanna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I knew early on in my life that I wanted to be a physical therapist (PT). I wanted to work in the hospital setting for my entire career. Working with patients who just had a stroke, a brand new knee replacement, or just needed to get a bit stronger and heal from their acute medical issue to go home. I had complete blinders on to any other setting of PT. I distinctly remember in PT school learning about the pelvic floor for about 1-2 hours, reading 1 research article and moving on. At the time, I thought, “why would anyone want to work with pelvic floor patients?”
Fast forward 1 year after graduating PT school and I started having my own pelvic floor pain issues. I went to my doctor and asked her what I could do to improve this.
Her response: You have 2 options. 1) you can live with the pain. 2) you can go to pelvic floor therapy.
My response: What’s option 3? Neither of those 2 sound great.
And to be completely honest, if my doctor wouldn’t have sent my referral to a clinic to schedule an evaluation for pelvic floor therapy, I don’t think I ever would have followed up and probably would have just lived with the pain. Being a patient of pelvic floor therapy myself started a complete career pivot.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was featured last year under my previous business name, Mom Restored Physical Therapy and Wellness and in Dec 2023, I rebranded to Realign Pelvic Health which feels much more aligned with who I am and who my business serves.
I have been a PT for almost 9 years with the past 6 really focused heavily on treating patients with pelvic floor and core challenges. My ultimate goal is to help each client that I work with regain confidence and trust in their pelvic floor and core in order to live their most vibrant life! I want everyone to be able to break up their relationship with panty liners and other incontinence products because they no longer need them. I want women to confidently chase after their kids at the park, go jump at the trampoline park, or have a hearty belly laugh with girlfriends without concern that their pants will be wet.
What sets me apart for a lot of other pelvic floor therapists is that I treat from a PRI (Postural Restoration Institute) lens that assesses the body in a completely different way than what is taught in more mainstream pelvic floor courses. PRI is a very holistic approach that honors the body’s innate asymmetries and addresses these asymmetries to work for us and not against us. Initially most of my clients find it odd that some of their exercises they only work on one side instead of doing on both sides but once they start seeing improvements in their issues, they typically happily jump on the bandwagon.
Each client I meet, I learn about their journey that brought them to see me. I love hearing what their goals are and helping roadmap a path to how to get there. Recently, I had a client that started seeing me with a primary complaint of leaking urine with coughing and sneezing come in after a several day long cold to happily report that although she was getting over her cold, she never once leaked! We had only worked together about 3 sessions at that point.
I am most proud to be able to serve women in my area to get them back to doing activities they love but have been avoiding due to their pelvic floor issues. It is an honor when someone is willing to share their pelvic floor challenges with a complete stranger as this can be extremely uncomfortable for many, and guide them to achieve their most important goals.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Unsure if a lesson or a trait but avoiding failure. To be in business is to accept that sometimes, you fail. Sometimes what you thought was a good decision, or a good idea, or a great product to create just doesn’t work out the way you had planned. Initially at the start of my business, I was almost stuck in space, afraid to take a step forward because “what if it didn’t work out?”. Then when I overcame that, the next version of avoiding failure showed up when something did fail. It hurt. It felt like everything was just falling apart (looking back on this now, I see how dramatic I might have been). It pushed me back to avoiding taking any steps as I didn’t want to experience that again.
It’s taken a lot of self work and help with a phenomenal therapist to work through this deep seeded issue that “we don’t fail” and translate it to “we can fail. Everyone fails. That’s ok”. I just remind myself that I so far have a 100% track record of waking up the next day after I have “failed” and I’ve been ok. Don’t get me wrong though, I am still a work in progress in learning this lesson. Learning to be ok in the discomfort of trying something out and seeing if it is “successful” and if not, what feedback can I take and learn from this?
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
2 books that I am very glad were recommended to me especially early on are “The Gap and The Gain” by Dan Sullivan and “Profit First” by Mike Michalowicz.
First, “The Gap and The Gain” really helps reframe how you view your business. So often, we have big goals and are laser focused on achieving them and if they take longer than we expected this can be discouraging. Dan Sullivan encourages looking back to see how far you’ve come instead of only focusing on how you still have to go.
“Profit First” was very helpful in figuring out how to manage all business expenses appropriately while also paying myself. As a solopreneur it initially was really hard creating a plan to save for taxes, put money aside for business expenses, profit and my pay. His plan was simple and easy to implement.
