Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Reana Cunningham . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Reana, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My art is something that I am extremely proud of. I knew for the beginning that I wanted to use my creativity to help others. I aspire to make others feel less isolated through my music. Everytime I have written a song it has a meaning that hopefully someone can relate to.
I remember when I was going through a rough time and Doll Skin’s song “Daughter” came on and it got me through a lot of tough shit. I knew then I wanted to create art like that to help people who were in a similar spot to me; return the favor!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Reana Cunningham! I’m an 18 year old musician and sfx artist. I’m mainly a guitar player, I specialize in metal and rock music because they’re my personal favorite and they’re what my original material is and will be! What sets me apart from other musicians is that is that bring the idea of shock rock to an entirely new level. I do sfx makeup which elevates my horror “Pumpkin Queen of Halloween” brand, and just adds for an even more fun stage presence. I LOVE to perform and I make sure to give you the full experience when I play, giving high energy! I’m also entirely self taught in my music and play everything by ear, which is something that I am extremely proud of myself for!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think that people can/should go out to more local shows and events to help support the creative community, small businesses, and even small towns! It not only helps out communities but it is almost always a fun, worthwhile, time!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me is seeing the impact I’m making with my work, even if it’s small! I get tons of comments from young girls about how I inspire them and how I push them to keep following their dreams! I also love seeing people happy, having a good time at shows!
