We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Reagan Verdi Lia Mueller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Reagan Verdi, thanks for joining us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
This is such a great topic! While we are still early on in our business and have plenty more to learn, we also have plenty of things we would’ve done differently at the very start. One that comes to mind is focusing on one clear offer, instead of trying to develop multiple products/services. We now see the value in getting really clear on one thing, then adding in other offerings later if we so choose. This not only simplifies everything for us as business owners, but it also helps potential clients more clearly understand what we offer. Another would be niching sooner into our specific target audience and ideal client. As the old marketing adage goes, “when you try to talk to everyone, you end up talking to no one”!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are sisters who have a passion for women’s health. We were inspired to start this business after our mom passed unexpectedly in 2022. She passed due to health issues so we wanted to be able to help other women lead healthier lifestyles. We specialize in helping women with PCOS. We have a signature program we offer called The PCOS Babes Blueprint. This program combines health coaching with functional testing to create personalized recommendations for clients, focusing on lifestyle and nutritional changes. These recommendations are designed to be small, attainable, and reasonable which allows our clients to create lasting habits and results. The program is customizable to what the client wants to focus on. This can look like education on nutrition labels or accountability for women motivated to make changes to their daily routines. This is really what sets us apart from other health coaches or other programs. We are not just another e-course or self-help book. We work face to face with our clients every week to see what is working well, what is not working, and where we can make changes to help them move closer to their goals.
The biggest thing we want our clients to know is they are capable of improvement!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
We recently participated in an entrepreneurship program where we spent several months really delving into our business and learning how to attract clients. The most helpful strategy we learned from this was how to niche down. Once we niched into the PCOS space, it became much easier to start growing. Once we had a more narrow focus, we could really identify common issues our clients were experiencing and speak to those. This made content creation much easier and allowed us to really hone in on attracting our ideal clients!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A mindset shift we really focused on changing and unlearning in our first year of business is the idea of needing to start small and have a lot of offerings for our products/services. An example of this in the health coaching field might be something like a one-hour coaching call or offering a $10 digital guide, as opposed to a larger offering like a 3-4 month program.
For us, the hesitation in creating that larger offering wasn’t concern over the work involved, but a lack of confidence that we could sell it. We assumed we had to offer the $10 guide (which we did in fact try to do!), and the discounted one-hour coaching call, and the 3-call bundle, and the 4-week program.
This can be how some people want to run their business – and that’s great! For us, we really had to evaluate this mindset. Was this something we truly wanted, or did all these efforts stem from imposter syndrome and/or lack of confidence in charging our worth? We ultimately determined that smaller and frankly too many offerings (we wanted to appeal to everyone!), were doing a disservice not only to ourselves and our business, but to potential clients seeking that extra value that only a longer, more individualized program could provide.
However our fellow entrepreneurs decide to structure their products and services, we would just leave them with the Marianne Williamson quote that “your playing small does not serve the world”. How we show up and what we offer should be most inspired by our biggest dreams and desires, not our fears.
