We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rayy Blank. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rayy below.
Rayy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The moment I knew I wanted to make music was around 2013 when I was in middle school still. I would always usually listen to rap on the radio and at the time they were playing music from Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rich Homie Quan & Young Thug and I was curious to see where I’d fit in and where my music would be at on the radio. My mom was overprotective of what I listened to though, so she just made me listen to the instrumentals instead of the songs. I would listen to the instrumentals everyday from walking to school to walking home to gym class or on the weekends and eventually I started rapping to the instrumentals and it got me inspired to make my own music and try to mature myself into an artist that had my own creativity. Eventually I started recording music later on high school and things took off from there.

Rayy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who aren’t familiar with me, my stage name is Rayy Blank and I am a hip-hop artist. I’ve been making music for around six years and I’ve made songs with numerous artists and my main focus has been to reach a bigger fan base and hopefully sign a deal to a major label so I can share my music with everyone. My brand is Fiji Team, I consider it more of a brand for the youth and it also extends to a label for artists because I want to own my own label eventually so I can sign artists independently and help them grow as well. So far, I’ve been doing well with music and although I haven’t been signed yet, it takes time and patience and I know eventually that time will end up being here.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Honestly I wish I knew about networking and connecting with bigger artists earlier because if I did I’d probably be a lot further in my career than I am now. I also wish I knew about what artists to watch and who to be around before they blew up as well so I could learn from what they did and try to find my own way in that as well.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I’ve seen NFTs so much on social media and I still don’t necessarily know what it is. From what I seen so far I think that it’s basically like buying art and selling it when it gets to a certain price? But it’s weird because you can just like… screenshot it? I don’t even know honestly because it’s a funny topic but I mean the world is always changing so I’ll run with it for now.
