Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rayvion Bolden. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rayvion, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
First and foremost, special thanks to CanvasRebel for the opportunity to share my story within their platform! As far as my creative pursuit to attack becoming an artist on a professional level, that started back in July of 2022. I’ve always been musically inclined since I can remember. I was in band all the way from sixth grade until I graduated high school. I marched and played in my highschool’s Jazz Band. From then on music took a halt for me, but I then began to find comfort in making beats. I dabbled with that for some time but in the back of my mind, on my bucket list was to make a song at some point. Fighting the pressures and fears of being trash, making a song wasn’t that easy for me. Especially when every time I would attempt to write something it would be terrible! But with the growth of becoming a man those fears slowly started to fade. My brother Raylin got a spark to start writing and he ended up going to the studio. Although starting out it was never a walk in the park, I somehow kept pushing and trying to at least become competent. My 2nd time in the studio, Raylin had some extra time from his session and I just so happened to have a lil’ something written to lay down. I layed it and everyone in the studio was ecstatic. That is when I realized music was something I wanted to take serious.

Rayvion, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ray V, I’m an artist born and raised from Las Vegas and I make a Sing/Rap or R&B/HipHop style of music. Music has always been apart of my life, whether it has been making beats on the lunch table at school or my pops making raps for me and my brother Raylin when we was little. Even though I come from and have a background in music, becoming an artist was always something I was afraid of. Mostly afraid of failing and feeling an embarrassment of having wasted energy on what really was my dream the whole time. That fear crippled me until I grew to understand that it was all in my head. Back in June-July of 2022 when my brother Raylin started writing and making music, it inspired me to go all-in and dedicate myself to the music too. What I’m most proud of as an artist is the growth that I have made since dedicating myself to music, and the potential to grow even more from where I am now. The main thing I would want people to know about me is that I’m a student of the craft and I lean on my team. Special thanks to @Tianashai, my engineer for the guidance and support through being an artist. Much love to my brother @Raylinbolden for always pushing me to go harder, he just dropped his first album “Don’t Forget About Me” go stream that of course! My sister @iamlaeloh been there from the beginning. Run up the streams, she got a project coming soon if it’s not out already by time this is out. My guy @6creates always down to put a vision together and go crazy with the camera! My cousin @cam_lando always showing support, go cop some merch from his brand “Wins and Losses”. And merch from @paragondiapparel & @respectdagamestore! Last but not least, go stream my first album “Cheers 2 the Sequel” which is out now on all platforms!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing that something I created can have great impact on someone else. As a consumer of music, I understand what it feels like to be taken to a place past, present, or future just by hearing a song. The art of being able to paint a picture with words that someone else can visualize will always hold a high regard for me. So, being in a space where I can provide an impactful experience to a listener, will always be appreciated.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
What drives my passion for music and creation is that
my ceiling is dependent upon how much work I put in and how intentional I am. I’m aware that I can only go as far as what I’m willing to work for. Just a year ago, recording music was nowhere near on my mind. I used to sit on the outside looking in at other artists that just didn’t take music as serious as it seemed it should be taken. Playing with their gifts as if they gave them to themselves. With that being said, I will always have a chip on my shoulder. I was never looked at as an artist and I love it that way. The grind and passion I put behind being an artist is what cannot be denied. That is what drives me creatively for sure.
