We recently connected with Raynetta Stansil and have shared our conversation below.
Raynetta, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My husband and I came up with the idea of a junk removal business as he was looking for a way to open his own business. My husband is a clean freak. So, we did research of what business can he do with our sons that he can enjoy and leave a legacy. We start looking on YouTube and came up with two ideas. These included a cleaning company or junk removal company. I did research and discovered that there weren’t many junk removal companies in the area. Our next discussion was, do we purchase dump trucks or box trucks. We decided on box trucks because they cany hold more items and protect them better in the weather. Due to not many companies in the area, we were offering a unique service because we service urban areas that others hesitate to service. This is what got me excited because we were offering those areas the opportunity to remove junk items, clean up their yard, and more. Some of our challenges were being a new business that had to pay for insurance, business license, and dumping funds. Which can all add up if we are not charging appropriately, we learnt that the hard way. So, prices had to be adjusted, so a profit can be made. Once we started getting noticed int he community, I made us a google page and added notary as a service.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Raynetta, and my husband’s name is Joe. What sets us apart is we are a part of the community that we serve. We take pride in helping our community to clean up. As mentioned, in their yards, and their homes. Overall, a clean home can make you feel good. My background is in healthcare. So, I am embedded to care. I am currently a healthcare director in a hospital. So, it makes my heart shine to help individuals in solving problems. Whether that is moving assistance, junk removal, hauling, or notary services. In addition, it is my family (myself, husband and sons) that is helping your family. We all take pride that we have a 4.9 Google review for Stansil and Sons Junk Removal. A 5.0 for Stansil Notary.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
As a small business, we had to start with personal funds at first. However, what helped me the most was getting into Facebook groups. These groups were a God sent. I was given the knowledge of what companies I can get credit from with my business EIN number. I was then able to buy supplies and items that were needed for the business, and pay those companies back.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
My business partner is my husband. We both partnered together to figure out what business can we do, and pass done to our sons. Even if the business didn’t work, they can sell the trucks and use that money for another business that they have a passion for. As we have 2 trucks. So, generational wealth is the goal.
