Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raynetta Irish. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Raynetta, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
A heart warming moment in my career as a doula was showing a mother who came to The United States, because healthcare back where she resided (Bahamas) wasn’t in good shape due to Covid and she needed the proper help and assistance to take care of her and deliver her baby safely. She came down to the States with absolutely nothing. I, along with others, were able to assist her with emotional support leading up to her delivery, during the birthing process, and some time after she gave birth.
I was able to show her why having a doula was vital to along her journey. We stepped up and not only supported her, but we were able to get the community of mommy’s to help her with essential items she needed for her baby. Seeing how overwhelmed she became by it became fuel for me to go hard for all my clients and change their perspective of what doulas are capable of doing.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Raynetta Irish. I am a native of Miami, FL and I now reside in the Broward County area with my amazing husband of 6 years Michael Irish Jr. and our beautiful baby boy Michael Irish III.
I get the pleasure of serving families in the capacity of a: Fertility, Birth and Postpartum Doula, a breastfeeding counselor, and a childbirth educator. In layman’s terms I render support throughout the ENTIRE journey of family expansion.
I have my own company by the name of Sweet Baby Buddy LLC and I give continuous physical and emotional support and evidence based information to families during the prenatal journey and shortly after birth.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I believe having a genuine love for this line of work is very important, because it helps you give your all everytime and work in excellence.
With this line of work, I’m exposed to every type of culture and background but that is never a problem because I make it my business to service EVERYONE in excellence, and that helps me stay open minded and willing to learn from everyone I encounter.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Well this young lady is my Mentor and she helps me continuously in being better as a doula, her name is Esther McCant of Metro Mommy Agency. She actually introduced me to what a doula was and sparked the interest in me back in 2017.
It wasn’t until I gave birth to my son back in 2020 and called on her to help me with breastfeeding, that I knew becoming a doula was a call I needed to answer.
Through her mentorship program ( Metro Mommy Mentorship) I found the doula program that was a fit for me, I became certified and started working. Connecting with her has opened so many doors for me and I’m forever grateful for her helping me Fully embody Doula Ray of ☀️.
