We were lucky to catch up with Rayna Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rayna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I had no idea that my travel would lead to becoming a creator. My positions in promotional marketing and theatre (assistance electrician for Disney Live’s Three Classic Fairytales) allowed me to travel throughout four continents, but at the time, I didn’t realize how that experience would impact my future. I always loved performing and creating and during my time on the road, I interviewed others in the company to create a web series called Hotel Home (still available on YouTube). This was all about the experience of and tips for how to travel full time.
Now, I wish I had documented more of my travel experiences like trying Kobe beef or visiting the Ramen museum in Japan or seeing Mont Saint Michel in France and even spending Christmases in Montreal and El Paso. Only recently have I realized that there are entire careers that revolve around people sharing experiences like these. If I could go back, I’d be sure to have a great camera and take more photos and videos of hotels, foods, work on the road, and all the experiences that go with it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I traveled the world until I became a mom and for several years, I focused on that responsibility, but travel is something that I am passionate about. I started Some Moore Travel as a brand that encourages and inspires a balance between family and couples travel. I want parents to feel empowered in knowing that the world is still out there and they should be able to experience it both with their children and on their own. Just like our diets, our work, the universe… it is all about balance.
I share travel tips, experiences, and the message that you are not only allowed, but encouraged to take guilt-free time away from your kids to rest and recharge. Both family travel and couples travel are important to a strong and happy family unit and a fulfilled parent. I also believe it is important to remind parents that you don’t have to pack in every experience before your child turns 18. My balance includes multigenerational vacations and grandparents taking time to spend with their grandchildren. This instills the idea that opportunities to travel together are open to us now and can continue far into the future.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I have a full time job as a high school science teacher and also have two children with very different needs. Being a creator on social media allows me to use my performance and creative skills on my own time and in my own way. I can still be there for my family and my students while following my passion for travel and infusing creativity into my life everyday. It has become an amazing outlet for me over the past few years.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
For quite a while I was using in app editors for my videos. These are nice, but since I found CapCut, I have fallen in love with it. This app is free, but I absolutely love the paid version for features like being able to easily add captions to my videos. This is a huge time saver and also makes my work far more accessible. I am still learning about many of the creative ways I can use this software, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to delve into the creation of short form video.
