We recently connected with Rayn Nachreiner and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rayn, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
In the midst of Covid, I was working a 9-5 job that I definitely didn’t see myself doing for the rest of my life. I have always known that I was destined for something bigger, it was just a matter of time before figuring out what that was. I was gifted my first camera, I was doing free sessions for friends and family, taking pictures of quite literally anything and everything. I continued to do this for months on end until I shot my first wedding for $350. I started to realize that the interest I had with this hobby I had started could be something more bigger than just a hobby and idea. I researched online, kept practicing the skill, had to figure out the logistics of it all. I went into it with no money, it was a risk that I was willing to take. From a timid 21 year old girl with no idea of what to do, to finally making a name for herself at the age of 25. The next few months were difficult. The next year a lot of tears were shed. I was confused, working all hours of the day and night, trying to get a grip on how to successfully do this. I think I’ve finally figured it out, but it’s been a process.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi! My name is Rayn Nachreiner. Born and raised in small town New Ulm, in Minnesota. I am 25 years old with 3 younger sisters that I love with my whole heart. I will always share my story of how I got into Photography as it is near and dear to my heart. I never knew what I wanted to do with my life career wise, I worked as a nursing assistant, a waitress, a compliance monitor, but I knew there was always something more for me to grasp onto. In 2020, I was gifted a camera for Christmas. I started taking pictures of objects, nature, people… just about anything. I eventually made Posts on social media asking if anyone wanted to model for me, for free. As time went on, my love for the art grew immensely. There is something about taking a picture and delivering that final product. Fast forward to 2021, I took the leap and decide to do this full time. I don’t know who I would he today without this business. It has shaped me into the woman I am today, and taught me a lot. I am a couples/wedding/destination photographer… I also offer branding, maternity, seniors. I have traveled to: Honduras, Colorado, New York, Miami, Pensacola, St. Pete’s Beach, México, and I am heading to Jamaica, California and Las Vegas so far this year. I think what sets me apart from others would be my unique style, my approach with my clients and the connection I can make. I am very easy to talk to and socialize with. I am most proud of the travel I have been able to do with this business. We as business owners tend to forget how much time and effort we have put in to make our business what it is. From nothing… to traveling the world. That is incredible. If I could tell my followers and clients one thing, it would be to pursue your dreams and take the leap, as cheesy as that sounds. Please don’t let anything hold you back. I am just a 25 year old girl from a small town in Minnesota, and I made the dream my reality.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I do believe that one of my strong points is social media marketing. There is a strategy behind marketing yourself online. Do not just post to post. Be intentional. Show your face on your stories. Share the kind words your clients share with you. Make your presence online authentically you.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Social media and marketing. Constantly showing up online, sharing my journey/story as time goes on.
