We recently connected with Ray Nash and have shared our conversation below.
Ray , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My producer friend Sinclvire and myself had been working on samples & beats together for some time, he’s in Alaska and I’m in LA so we would just send stuff back & forth. That gradually developed into making whole tracks together. Our collab music project NVSHCLVIRE has been awesome, he’s a very underrated producer and our individual sounds work very well together. The most recent release in the series was Sacrifices and we’re dropping our next track, Miss The Rain, with our friends Hi_Fii and Chriz Milly on July 8th.

Ray , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I was 10 years old one of my friends showed me how to play a couple power chords in guitar so I could jam with him and his older brother, and I’ve been in love with music ever since. That’s when I started studying music seriously, guitar being my main instrument but I also picked up drums bass and piano. I didn’t start really singing until I was about 18, at that time me & my friends would all get together and play some songs we knew acoustically as well as sing together. Usually it was Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes or Coldplay but we played a lot of tunes. Sometimes we would even go play open mics at the coffee shops in Tacoma. I went to school for audio production & engineering at 19, and that’s when I started to make beats on my laptop and got my introduction to a studio environment. After that I moved to LA, got a job in a studio and eventually got to work with some big rap artists, one of them being Young Thug who has been a good friend and an inspiring figure.
I’m extremely proud of the music I’ve put out this far, a couple notable tracks being Contemplative and Sunsets, but I’m also excited for what’s to come next. The tracks I’ve been working on recently will be a great follow up to the NVSHCLVIRE series and I think people will be pleasantly surprised by the tone.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Music has been my escape since I started playing. I get to channel all my emotions and thoughts into songs and make something beautiful. I think the best aspects of making music is jamming or performing, it’s hard to explain the feeling but I basically just become lost in the music and I’m free. I also love when something I’ve made resonates with people, it’s like connecting with people in a different way.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best way to support creatives is really anything more than just streaming tracks. Interacting with them on socials or going to a show or buying merch are things that benefit us much more, I think it’s also really cool when people reach out to say how much that persons music or art means to them.
