Ray, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

I’m super excited to have the opportunity to tell my story! Thank you for allowing me to! It’s taken years of events to understand what my mission is and why I want to accomplish every word of it as an event professional, as a DJ and MC. Prime Sound Entertainment (PSE) is dedicated to transforming ordinary gatherings into extraordinary experiences, packing dance floors with great mixes that resonate with the heart and soul of every guest. PSE always strives to provide our clients stress-free planning from start to finish.

Our commitment to our clients goes beyond the DJ controllers and amplifiers; it encompasses the entire event experience. My team and I aspire to entertain, inspire, and create memories that last a lifetime, ensuring that every event we touch is filled with energy, excitement, and the emotions that come with every mix.

After years of success, ups and downs, self-doubt, long days, lit dance floors, and happy clients, I now understand why Prime Sound Entertainment’s mission is so important. It’s more than just a statement. It’s our way of letting our clients know that we are in it with them every step of the way. They never have to worry about a thing. We aim to give them peace of mind and allow them to focus on savoring every moment of their celebration. We strive to leave them and their guests wanting more!

Ray, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Definitely! In the beginning, I was just having fun with friends, and bringing an iPod to every party. I loved curating a playlist so that the party was hype and full of energy and everyone loved my mixes. It was such an awesome feeling to see my friends and their friends dancing and bobbing their heads all throughout the party to the vibe I created with the help of Limewire, Pigeons & Planes and Pitchfork. I loved music and searching for new artists just as much as the next music lover and especially enjoyed sharing those artists and tracks with others.

Fast forward a few years, I bought my first DJ controller, a pair of speakers, and found myself playing music for Sierra Canyon School’s football games. That was fun! I was asked to do my first Bar-Mitzvah and then jumped into many birthday parties, school events, and more sporting events. I had no idea what my goal was with each event or what I wanted to stand out for other than making my clients happy and getting paid, if I’m being honest. From there, I gained opportunities to DJ bigger and more important events. It was overwhelming and I still didn’t understand what my mission was. All I knew was that I loved music and LOVED getting everyone on the dance floor!

I booked my first wedding at the Odyssey in Granada Hills, California and that’s where everything started to change. There was so much pressure and the challenge of getting all guests on the floor was intense! That first one was tough. I was able to provide my clients with a great celebration, but was terrified the entire time.

I found myself more interested in weddings and private events. That’s where my focus was and when I started to gain a better understanding of what I wanted to build and why I wanted to build it. Prime Sound Entertainment was officially born in 2010 and hasn’t stopped growing since.

Over the years I’ve been blessed enough to have added better quality services and gear for our clients and their events. Currently, my team and I offer everything from DJ and MC services, sound, lighting, highlight reels, photo booths, media centers, our music and planning app, CO2 cannons, and even a way to let guests help create a live photo wall of their event. The list will definitely get even greater over the next few years. We love our full day events and absolutely love weddings, public and private events all over Southern California.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

A packed dance floor is always a good feeling along with knowing that we’ve provided an unforgettable experience. Honestly, seeing our clients and their guests dancing all night with nothing but a smile on their face is legitimately the best and most rewarding part.
