We were lucky to catch up with Raven Jorgensen recently and have shared our conversation below.

Raven, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

As I continue to grow my photography business, how I want to build a legacy is to stay true to being your not-so-average traveling photographer. I believe in more than taking pretty photos. Every person deserves a photographer who captures all the precious emotions of each moment, delivers an unforgettable, relaxing experience, and also makes them feel like they have a personal hype woman behind the camera. And I stick to that. Once they have become a client of mine, I become a friend who constantly cheers them on in life and continues to build that relationship outside of my sessions. I don’t want to see my clients at a once-a-year type of event during the shoot. I want to see my client’s daughter graduate kindergarten and cheer her on in the comment section, or see them out in public and be able to run up and hug them. Building connections and making people feel heard, seen, and appreciated as people is something I long for them to remember about me. Not only do I want to truly be my bubbly self during our photoshoots but to be a compassionate person to them outside of those sessions as well.

Raven, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hi there, sweet friend! I’m Raven, your not-so-average traveling photographer based in Arizona and I believe in more than taking pretty photos. You deserve a photographer who captures all the precious emotions of each moment, delivers an unforgettable, relaxing experience, and also makes you feel like you have a personal hype woman behind the camera.

Life moves so fast, and honestly, pictures of life’s moments always take the last priority. Most people have “average” photos in their camera roll of their significant other, introducing a new member to the family (babies or pets), pregnancy announcements and so much more.

I want to help you capture these moments by relieving you of the stress to allow you to put the phone down and FEEL the moments. I will handle EVERYTHING and make it perfect.

“Perfect” means different things to different people. For some, it means that the kids behaved in the session. For others, it means that they did not feel “awkward” in front of the camera. And for the rest, it means that they can see and feel the moment when they look back at the photos. I want to uncover what you believe “perfection” is and provide you with the perfect experience to cater to you.

I encourage all of my clients to provide me with as much information and feedback as possible so I exceed all expectations within our session. Remember, I am providing YOU with my art. And I want you to be stoked about it.

Why do I spend the time that I do to make sure I get your photography needs? Why do I constantly communicate with my clients, before and after the session? Why is my gallery delivery times shorter than most photographers? Well…. it comes down to the fact that I strive to over-deliver and provide the best art to my clients while they are still excited about the session. I believe in the investment of photography, and I believe YOU deserve the absolute BEST. You deserve a stress-free and beautiful photographic experience every time you step in front of a professional photographer.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Something that I have found as a small business owner is reviews and shoutouts. Once I have delivered a gallery to a client, I not only text them asking for feedback, but I also send a follow-up email explaining why reviews help my business grow and if they could leave a review.

I also require every time someone uses my images on social media, that they are required to either tag me or add my @ in the caption section. I do this for a couple of different reasons. 1 – It is my art at the end of the day and I deserve recognition. 2 – Marketing.

How many of us are guilty of seeing a beautiful image online and instantly wanting to see the photographer’s page who took those images? I know I do. So that is a huge bonus to ask your clients to do.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

How I have continued to grow an audience on my social media and continue to post even when I started off getting 1 to 5 likes each post. Just keep posting. Consistency is key.

Also, something people love is understanding who you are. So updating your clients about you as a person once in a while. It doesn’t have to be anything too personal, just letting them know you’re spoiling yourself on a weekend vacation or that you’ve been crazy busy with life and are going to take a weekend break with no cell phone. I think people lean in more to people that they can relate to.

Being relatable and constantly posting at least 3 times per week!
