We recently connected with Ravell Robinson and have shared our conversation below.
Ravell , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The risk involved, that starts from the moment that you decide to take your hobby from just being a hobby, to being a profession.
And not only that, I’m also technically disabled. So I mean, that’s a trick within itself but at the same time, I feel like if it’s worth it to you. Then it’s worth the risk, besides art is my sanctuary.
And when something makes you feel at peace. You stick with it, no matter the difficulties involved.

Ravell , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
OK so when it comes to art? Ever since I was a kid. I’ve always been into it and I just loved it. However, it wasn’t until December 23rd, 2014 that I realized that I could paint. And I actually love to do it. at first, It was a hobby but that hobby quickly became something that I felt that I could do on a professional level.
In fact, I have never mentioned this in any interview before. So this is the first time I’m actually admitting this. In an interview, The person who introduced me too painting. Her name was Katrina Lauren.
She taught me how to base the canvas, and How to focus on the subject; without actually having to take my attention completely off the canvas. I learned how to do everything else on my own.
It’s basically like experimenting with different herbs and spices when it comes to cooking.
I personally see art as a gift that I have obtained; and I like to share my gifts with others. That’s a huge reason why I pursued art not only from a Fun perspective, but also a serious perspective. I can help people that way.
I feel the need to explain this. My Original art works are really expensive. They range from $250 All the way up to $45,000. But, that’s just because I paint those for me. And to buy an original is to truly buy a part of me. However, I will happily do commissions and they are a fraction of the cost of my original paintings.
I don’t voluntarily just make prints of my artwork. But if someone were to want to purchase a print, I would produce a custom canvas print. Of, the chosen painting.
I would like to make my work accessible to anyone who truly enjoys art. But you have to be willing to spend money.
Art cost money to create.
My goal is to help strengthen the imagination of my viewers.
But at the same time, make you think, and enjoy the process.
I believe it was Pablo Picasso. Who said that great artists steal. I don’t like to steal but I do like to innovate, What is there. for example, in my recent paintings? You can see classic artist inspiration. But you also see the surrealist approach; That I bring to the pieces.
It’s like seeing the past, present, and future all that the same time.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I don’t personally view NFT art, as art. So I never introduced my art to a digital format. Because I feel like it takes away from what art truly is. Physical art is monumentous to me. I feel like NFT’s are just a cash grab.
I think they are a spit in the face of what art truly is.
That’s why
The only way you will be able to truly enjoy my art is if you buy it physical. If you buy digitally, it didn’t come from me.
That’s all I have to say on that subject.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being a creative is actually. When you truly get to see how much your work actually means to people.
Art normally comes from a dark Place.and when you are able to help people actually love the comfort that comes with that chaos; it in a way. Helps You understand that the struggles weren’t pointless. Knowing that you were able to help someone else through your art.
From time to time, I suffer from Debilitating depression. So, it is really good to have art as that therapeutic comfort.
