Rastin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My name is “Rastin”, I am a professional performing artist /singer in the genre of pop/ world music in the farsi speaking/ Persian music market, and also working as a creative director and having my own creative branding studio “G4Design studio” . I will be sharing my experiences on both of these categories.
As a singer, since I was 10 years old I have always loved music, playing guitar, playing drums, singing and performing in front of a mirror. throughout my childhood music always grew on me. I was listening to Rock music when I was teenager and created my first band in Gothenburg Sweden.
As a creative director, I have always noticed icons, logo types, branding , colors, compositions, typography when i was young and I knew I wanted to pursue this career when I grew up, to become a brand Ambasador for my own brand both in music and advertising world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a performing artist/singer, I always wanted to become a professional artist, my own signature, release albums and music videos, and perform on big stages in the world and have a world tour with my own big band. before I moved to Los Angeles, Ca I lived in Gothenburg Sweden, I got in contact with a record label in LA to send a “demo tape” and for them to review and see if I have the qualities to be a performing artist. I decided to move to LA and to pursue my graphic design career as well in parallel and that was the start of my journey. The record label didnt happen since they wanted lots of money for me to invest and I decided to put that on hold and continue school and my education. I went to college for 2 years and another 2 years in university and got my BA, focused on Graphic Arts, Advertising and Business. Years after I met with a well know music producer “Farid Zoland” who I signed a contract with and released my first album back in 2009. My second album got released in 2011 and I had my first concert in Saban Theater in Los Angeles, Ca. I worked hard on the music side and after my agreement was expired, i released my third album in 2021 and 4th album in 2023. I have performed in many countries including Sweden, Turkey, Canada, and more to come. I have now created a fan base both on western world and also in asia and they keep me motivated to release variety of tracks in different genres and I love it.
As a creative director, since I graduated from university, I have been working for small to big brands and companies like: American idol, Guess Inc, H&M Sweden, Western Digital, Nike, and other clients. working as a branding specialist sounds easy but with the high competition out in the market both back then and now with growing Ai, is not that easy. I have always kept my eyes open for new technology and kept myself up to date on the design trends to be able to stay in the market have clients.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As an artist I think “Creativity” is the key and you have to have it to be an artist. To express your creativity as an artist, enjoyment and share with the world. “Freedom”, to be your own boss and decide the way you want it to be, like
Frank Sinatra said, “I did it my way”. “Sense of Purpose” , “Growth” “Self Confidence” “problem Solving” and “Visibility” are more facts and main key elements that are rewarding aspects of being an artist, which I believe any artist in the planet are using and enjoying.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main mission or goal is that my art in any form should show itself and to be able to connect with the viewer or listener. The art should have the power to change someones mind or attitude based on the message and purpose. if its music or song it should take the listener out of this world to another place that the listener wants to be. If its a advertising message, it should promote a product or make someone do something or change their mind based on what the message and visual is telling them to do.
