Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rashik Razzaque. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rashik, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Back in lockdown due to Covid-19, the isolation and solitude made me realize the importance of Human Relations, Emotions, Communication and Empathy. I felt like, the best way to connect to these aforementioned topics were through Art, a way of my expression.
Till this day, I feel like, any form of Art can be a connection between the past and the future. Art can also be a reflection of my views of the world, my perspectives and opinions, be it Political or Sociological. A difference can be made through a single photograph, through an artwork which may help people think, and art can be a great way to know a person’s soul as well. These thoughts, after contemplating a lot; made me realize, in order to grow as a human being, I need to pursue Art as a creative journey, for self development and being able to contribute to the Human society. Every single event counts, every single moment counts.
Making memories, gathering stories and dying with a smile without any regrets must be the ultimate definition of life, making my time on earth worthwhile.
Rashik, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m still a student, and the academic pressure sure becomes overwhelming sometimes. A way out for me was practicing, analyzing, learning different froms of Art, from photography to painting, from visual poetry to visual Anthropology. The sheer passion led me to pursue a diploma in Photography, as well as doing Murals on walls, making music with my friends, and sometimes, sketching and creating conceptual digital paintings.
I’m not yet into handling clients yet, as I’m still learning, finding myself, trying to comprehend which form of Art along with my primary interest-Photography fits me well. I would say I’m proud of how practicing and analyzing Art has made my life more disciplined, improved my time management skills and broadened my views on reality through and throughout. Photography is my lifestyle, and other practices I do is out of sheer passion. Pursuing a full fledged Arts career is not what I am thinking about at the moment. Yet, I’d like to showcase my views through Photography, maybe hold a solo exhibition someday.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
In brief, Self-Acceptence is the keyword to this question.
Personally, I just want to become a better person, gradually connect to my roots, become more empathetic and kind towards nature. I want to make an impact on the world someday, through my works, and even though its too much of an optimistic thought, but, I want to make this contemporary dystopia a much more bearable place for everyone, for myself as well.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society and its people can try to be less judgemental and have an open mind. They must understand why Art exists, why some acts of violence may be pointless and practice co-existence along with tolerance. They could build a critical approach to learn theories and concepts, understand another person’s perspective and be more patient. In order to comprehend the impact of Art and the efforts an Artist provides, everyone could read more, discuss and debate more, analyze opposing opinions instead of holding an attacking mentality, and personally be connected with the world more. Empathy is a must, by every human being co-existing in society, rather than fighting over religion, belief, castes etcetra.
