We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rashida Carter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rashida thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
There are definately many heartwarming stories within my career. Mostly all of them have the same basis of caregiving,compassion and walking in my purpose calling/ministry. Ive had many different accounts on different occasions in which my clients have felt a unseen feeling of relief,relaxation,and over better feeling inside as as well as outside of their bodies after services. Which is the reason why what I do differs and stand out from all thee others that offer the same services I do. Many are called but few are chosen(Matthew 22:14). My client reviews & testimonials are phenomenal professional,personable,knowledgable to name a few of the words used to discribe me and my services. I appreciate each and everyone of my clients I respect and hold their care at top notch priority. Customer service is very important to me and my business. Each one of my clients are unique in their own way and bodies are definately all uniquely made and not the same. I contantly remind them of that we live in a world where everyone wants to be like the next and realistically thats not possible. So what I do when offering services to each client I show,tell,educate them on how we can excentuate or bring out their beauty. Here is a story from one of my clients: I had a motorcycle accident going 130 mph and was only given 5% chance to survive. I had a complete T-6 spinal chord injury so no feeling below my chest down. I also suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury.
Since there was so much nerve damage my nerves are heightened so I typically don’t like people touching my back but Mrs.Carter was able to use hotstones and oil to soothe those muscles and calm those nerves down so when it was time to massage it wasn’t sensitive to touch rather soothing. I also have alot of muscle spasms that are very painful and after those spasms muscles are very tight and painful. The massage techniques that Mrs Carter uses are soothing but also break up the tension and relax those muscles. Mrs. Carter is very skilled and knows what muscles to hit to get everything right!!

Rashida, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My intial name for my business when I started back in 2015 was “Annointed Hands” and it has always been the foundation of my business. A leap of faith is what I took when I started my business the use of my hands is how I service my clients. I love what I do I finished massage therapy school back in 2015 and when I finished I knew there was many different avenues to go with the knowledge I had obtained. I started strictly doing mobile massages going to my clients and servicing them in their homes. As my business grew I obtained more certifications Yoni Steam Practitioner,BodySculptor,Post Operative Care Specialist,Herbalist I then new it was time to spread my wings even further. In 2020 plans for “Tranquility Body Bar Inc.”started to come to life. Scared,excited and hopeful I opened up thee location in Jan of 2021 offering various spa services(detox body wraps,basic facials,energy rubs,himalayan salt detox,microblading,post op care/lymphatic drainage massages,wood therapy)to name a few. Not to mention our in house chiropractic services avaliable from Dr.Beverly J.Owusu-Duku owner of Infinite Health & Wellness Chiropractic Center. We believe your body should be at its best so you can be your best!!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
When building the clientele for my business it wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. And I say that to say your services and how you treat your clients goes a long way and business owners 1st mistake is not taking that super serious and making it priority everyday and with every client. My clients “Word Of Mouth’ is what I credit the growth of my business to. I showed up to each and every appointment with my ‘A” game on and ready to give my client what the needed out of each service/session. Some business owners get caught up in the money making aspect of the business and forget to experience and enjoy what they are doing for their clients. And thats what I call making it a “Experience’ and not just a client service. If you love what you do and do what you do well and to the best of your ability the clientele will come with patience and time.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I aspire to one day build franchises purpose in which the INC. was put in place! Always when in business one should think and aim big in all aspects of their business. Speaking affirmations or speaking life into something or things is a practice of positive thinking and self empowerment that will achieve success in anything. High morale goes hand and hand with whats previously stated having enthusiasm,confidence,or loyalty are all positive traits that I hold on a high pedestal when running day to day activities at Tranquility Body Bar Inc. along with ethics are key to what we offer with client care and all services.
