We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rashida Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rashida thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
1. Clear Goals: You have to know where you’re going and what you are wanting to achieve. When you write out your goals it has to be specific and you have to set a date. See them in your mind’s eye very clearly and set SMART goals to achieve so that it helps you accomplish those bigger goals.
2. Hard Work and Persistence: Success often requires putting in effort, staying determined, and not giving up easily. In my career of network marketing, rejection is something that you cannot avoid unfortunately. You have to be able to bounce back from someone saying NO to you. NO, doesn’t necessarily mean NO forever, for some people it’s NO right now. Sometimes circumstances won’t allow that person to say yes. You have to stay consistent because people watch you to see if you’re going to keep going or quit when it gets tough. Also life happens to everyone on their way to success, this is inevitable. It’s not what happens to you but how you respond to the situations that life tends to surround us with. Challenges will always arise but these things come into to your life to test you and teach you a lesson. These life lessons are needed at that time, even if we don’t understand why just know it’s needed. Even though life throws us curveballs, you have to keep going no matter what. Also having a strong WHY is important. I’ve learned a lot from sitting with the 1% and that’s one of them. Your why has to be strong enough to carry you through those tough times, if not you’ll quit. Your “WHY” must make you cry or at least bring you close to it. Because at that time when you feel like throwing in the towel, your why is going to keep you from quitting.
3. Continuous Learning: Your cup is never full. You should always be growing and soaking up knowledge. Always be coachable and willing to listen to your mentors. Being open to learning new skills and improving existing ones keeps you adaptable and relevant. Books are an important part of continuing your education on elevation of self.
4 Time Management: Efficiently managing time and priorities ensures productivity and progress. In this career you must already have your day planned, so that you can get a head start on your most important tasks. Time management is crucial especially if you’re actively growing a team like I am & booking vacations for clients. It keeps down the chaos so that things flow properly. You have to know what you’re doing at a specific time, otherwise it’s going to be a day of being busy and not productive.
6. Networking and Relationships: This is my favorite part about this industry. Building strong connections and collaborating with others can open up opportunities that lead to massive success. You never know who you may be networking with and where that one connection takes you. By all means Network! Make friends strategically in business because these connections also can be great in the long run. I feel in building, your network it grows your net worth.
7. Adaptability: Being flexible and open to change helps navigate various situations and challenges.
8. Passion and Drive: Genuine passion for what you’re pursuing fuels the drive and discipline needed for success. You have to love what you’re doing if you don’t it won’t work.
10. Positive Mindset & Self Development: Maintaining a positive attitude and believing in yourself can help overcome obstacles. I’ve also learned from the top 1% that you must continually be improving your mindset and one way of doing that is self development. Self development differs for each individual person. For the majority business books, motivational videos & podcasts are ways to stay motivated. What you also must take note of is, motivation runs out, this is where your why and your positive mindset comes in at. My favorite speakers for motivation is Eric Thomas & Jim Rohn. I have others that I listen to but these two are my top speakers. These are the ones I listen to, to help me develop a stronger mindset.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I first was introduced to network marketing in 2015 when I needed to focus on my health. My very first company that I was successful with, was company that sold health products. From there my love for helping people grew and since then I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing people. Fast forward to today, although I’m no longer with that company. I have continued my path in Network Marketing with PlanNet Marketing this year which gives individuals the opportunity to be professional travel brokers ( agents ) with Inteletravel, which is the first home based travel agency. So I have the best of both worlds you can say. Not only am I building relationships by networking with people, I also get to help families, groups, & couples create long lasting memories, by helping them plan their dream vacation. Network Marketing is more than just sales, it’s inspiring & awakening that spark in people, that they didn’t think they had. It’s helping that mom or dad bring in extra income to provide for their families. It’s reaching back and helping those who want time freedom, personal, freedom & most of all, financial freedom. It’s networking with not only the 1% but also networking with others who may have the same goals and aspirations. I absolutely love what I do, I love to see the joy in people when they have accomplished a goal, when they have extra income to provide for their families or just be able to go on that trip they always wanted to experience. I have always wanted to help people in some way, shape or form every since I was a child. I truly believe & know in my heart, that I was born to inspire millions. This industry allows me to create a lifestyle and work towards it with a group of like minded individuals who seek change in their lives. The discipline needed in order to run not 1 but 2 businesses strictly comes down to your why. Your why has to be strong and when you feel like giving up or you’re mentally drained from not producing, but you have to look back at the core reason for starting. For me it’s not necessarily the money, it’s the freedom that you get from the money that’s made. The freedom to come and go as you please, the freedom to spend time doing the things you love to do most with the people you value in your life. With that being said, you have to continuously work on improving your mindset as well. There will be times when life throws you a curveball so big, that if you’re not mentally strong, you will give up. This is why the need for self development is stressed heavily amongst the top 1%. If I had to choose what sets me apart from other travel professionals/ brokers, I would say trust I have the ability to understand and build unique relationships with people. I have a keen sensitivity to energy and so for me being able to connect with my clients and my team of travel professionals on that level differs significantly from other who may be in the same industry as me. This year in 2023 I am specifically proud of the woman I’ve become. My resilience & relentless pursuit to improve myself and stay focused has increased significantly. I’m proud that finally I am seeing the fruits from the seeds I’ve sown into others and most of all, I’m proud that I have built a foundation that generations after me can benefit from.I’d like to call myself a legacy builder. My brand overall is about being mindful and being in the moment and travel just happens to be apart of that. That’s the types of experiences I want to inspire others to take advantage of as well.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Yes, of course! So although I have been in this industry of networking & entrepreneurship, not all times are great like they portray on social media. We have many ups and many downs on this road to success. Last year 2022 was a downhill spiral that didn’t ever seem like it was going to stop. In one year, these are the events that took place that has instilled a different type of beast in me. Just to sum it up, last year I finalized my divorce in July, car was repossessed in August and I was evicted in November. It was traumatic for me and I cried a lot last year but I also knew it was a reason why I had to experience this. Disclaimer: Not everyone will experience losing it all. I never stopped believing that greatness was coming for me and that I had just stumbled only and not completely fallen. I allowed myself the space to process what had just happened in that year. Looking back on that experience, it was needed unfortunately, because it has truly changed the way I view life and how much we take the smallest things for granted. My new years resolution was to experience life, to travel, to help others experience life as well. I never want to go through anything like that ever again. So when the opportunity presented itself to me to be a professional travel broker & network marketer. I took it by its horns and I’ve been in an uphill momentum since! This is why I have so much resilience now.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
So I have been building my social media presence since 2015. Many of my followers who are now supporters or fans have followed me throughout the many changes in my life…lol. See social media is about inspiring, connecting with your audience and I’ve done a great job of that. Don’t let followers & likes fool you on these platforms. It’s about engagement, it’s about relationship building, it’s about living out your personal vision board and in the process making connections that will last a lifetime. My social media is my personal business card. My advice for those just starting out is not throw your product down people’s throats, they don’t want to be spammed. They want to know who you are and can they trust you. My audience trusts me because I am transparent with them. I don’t hide anything from them in terms of what the life of an entrepreneur is like. My life is very private but I give them a glimpse every once in a while. My pages are very uplifting and attractive to the eye. Starting out you should be building relationships, showing your audience who you are and how they can benefit from what you have without even selling them, if this makes sense. Matter of fact I just did a social media marketing training some weeks ago on this very subject.
