Rashelle, appreciate you joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?

My first client for what would eventually become Battle Born Tutoring came to me while I was still in college, before the business was officially founded. At the time, I was working as a tutor at the University of Nevada, Reno’s tutoring center when a high school student called the center looking for private tutoring. The staff recommended me, and that connection became my very first private client. From there, word began to spread through referrals, and over the next few years, those early tutoring sessions gradually grew into the thriving business I have today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I have a Master’s degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of Nevada, Reno, where I focused on Knot Theory. My journey into tutoring began during my time at UNR, where I worked as both a tutor and later as an adjunct professor of mathematics. I also taught SAT courses for The Princeton Review before realizing that my passion for teaching was in the one-on-one atmosphere, so I decided to dedicate myself fully to private tutoring. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built with my students and the progress I’ve seen them achieve over the years. Through Battle Born Tutoring, my goal is to share my lifelong love of learning and empower students to reach their full potential.
