Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rashawna Adams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rashawna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I am happier as a business owner. I wasn’t always. It was last year, i bought my 15 head embroidery machine. Omg i was so stressed and determined at the same trying to learn how to work this machine. I experienced my very first panic attack. I never had one before but if you have, you know that you feel like you are going to die. The worst feeling ever. The only way i thought i would overcome this, is if i was to go back to work. I really thought if i had a 9 to 5 on top of running my business it would help my anxiety. I thought i needed to work to help me have structure in my business. Thank god it was just a thought. I’m thriving more now than ever. I have overcome my fears. I no longer feel like i need to work a regular job. I love what i do. Most importantly i love being a business owner. I make my own hours, i make my own rules. Life is good.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Rashawna I’m married with 3 girls all under the age of 8. My husband is somewhat of an investor. He had a friend that wanted to design clothes so he purchase a heat press machine and a cutter, i saw it and it was love at first sight. Instead of hearts in my eyes i saw dollar signs. I always felt i work good with my hands. I’m very crafty. I started making t shirts. I pretty much can customize anything. As well as embroider. I like to think I’m different from other companies because i gain a personal relationship with my clients. I listen to every detail of what they want done and i deliver. I want my clients and followers to know that i put time and love into making your order. I make sure it’s done right. If it’s not i won’t give it to you until it is.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The book that helped me throughout my journey is The alchemist. It taught me what god has for me is for me and to follow your dreams. It also taught me if i want to accomplish something in life I must put it in the atmosphere and the universe is designed to make it happen.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson learned is to only buy what you need. All the extra things thinking it will grow your business it won’t. It will just put you in debt. Only buy what you need. Then let your business pay for itself.
