We recently connected with Rashard Reddick and have shared our conversation below.

Rashard , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

Since a very young age, I have always considered myself as being a winner. This carried on into my adulthood with me overcoming different obstacles in the same way, Many things that I have accomplished. I found it very ironic because after a certain period of time my siblings (Mainly my Brother) started calling me Winn. Winn is a name that my 3rd oldest brother always called me. I ran with it and incorporated the name into my business which is Winn pies. I also find it funny because now most people don’t even call me by my name, they address me as “Winn ”, with me being one of the greatest representations of and for my business.

Rashard , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Rashard Reddick, The owner of Winn pies. Sweet potato pies is a desert that has always been in my family and on the table every holiday. The original recipe came from My grandmother who passed away. Thanksgiving of 2019 I decided to get in the kitchen and give the recipe a try and surprisingly it turned out great. Then I decided to start selling them and received some really great feedback from my family and friends. Winn pies started off as a game then it became my reality.
I started this business because I felt that this would be a great way for me to not only continue my grandmother’s legacy but as well as my mother that also passed away back in 2017. That year was very challenging for me. My support system is what really helped me to continue to move forward and push through. In 2019 I Graduated college with my Bachelors of science in Human services.My goal was and still is to always make my mother proud. I know for a fact I am because of my accomplishments along with what I am doing with my business.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

I started from scratch literally. In the beginning when I started to sell, all of my pies were wrapped in foil. I had no direction, I was literally out here winging it lol. but as the years came about i learned new things and about different products. In the same, I started incorporating these into my business From my custom labels and Table clothes etc. I have other friends that have different businesses that connected me with their graphic designers etc which is how I sort of amped things up for Winn pies.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I have been working in the customer service field for 12+ years. Dealing with customers and providing service etc, I have incorporated these skills into my business. I strongly believe in providing great customer service and top quality products. I know how I like things for myself no matter what it is, so I use this in my business when I’m providing service and product (Pies) for my customers. Winn pies are freshly made for every sale and I truly believe that’s one thing outta many that keeps people coming back. Which has also helped build my reputation.
I truly take pride in my Kraft and my customers. In which i am always thankful for my customers, because without my customers and the support of my family and friends there would be no winn pies. I am truly grateful for everything that I have and for everything that I am about to receive. Winn pies is local now but be on the lookout because Winn pies will be in a store near you!
