Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rashad Patterson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rashad , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Rashad Patterson believes literature is important because it helps children in multiple aspects of life. Encouraging children to read at a young age is very vital to society . Reading helps children with expanding their vocabulary and introduces them to new topics.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Rashad Patterson is an Atlanta based youth development professional, teaching and mentoring kids on the importance of S.T.E.A.M. while helping them develop soft skills like leadership development, problem solving, and work ethic. He has taken his experiences mentoring youth and turned that into a series of children’s books that touch on topics involving colorism, abandonment, and racial profiling. A refreshing deviation from many children’s books that shy away from some of the very topics young people are experiencing, the books serve as a blueprint for parents to introduce their children to complex ideas in a relatable way.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
On my journey a lot of people didn’t understand my vision but I didn’t let that stop me from continuing on my path as a children’s book author. Being a self-published author isn’t easy it takes a tremendous amount of hard work because you are in control every thing . (Marketing. Illustration, Sale, Book, etc)
