We were lucky to catch up with Rashad Eagleton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rashad , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
To show people that you can have plant based meals with the same flavor and comfort as meals with meat.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been vegan since 2017 and selling vegan food since 2020. The journey started with me cooking meals for myself and displaying them online. Once I started doing that people asked me to start delivering meals and traction picked up. I’ve been cooking and catering ever since. I’m most proud of the fact that when people taste my food they always say “ if you didn’t tell me that was vegan I wouldn’t know. My goal is to open up the conversation about veganism by making my food look and taste like what you already eat on a standard American diet.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have kept going as a caterer and chef as many vegan restaurants have came and went.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I rented a cafe space inside of a well known community center in Houston, from 2021 to 2024 for two days a week. But my spirit was telling me that it was time for a change. I abruptly stopped leasing the space and found a job for the next few months while still catering on the side. Now on the brink of a new journey of having my own space to cook.
