We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rasha Robbins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rasha, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

I have always been into makeup. It started as a hobby and eventually turned into a passion. In 2019, I was laid off from my job and fell into a depression and was suicidal. I was not sure where I would I end up. I started reading the Bible more, journaling, and watching sermons. Eventually, I launched MakeupRashaC. Honestly, launching a business was never in my plans, but we all know GOD has a way to remind us who’s actually in charge.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

My name is Rasha Robbins and I am the CEO and founder of MakeupRashaC. We bring awareness to the mental health and self care space, while offering amazing services and products. I am a makeup artist and entrepreneur with lashes, lipgloss, matte liquid lipsticks, lip liners, etc. The beauty industry found me and I followed my purpose. I’m so glad it did because I get to remind someone about the light at the end of the tunnel, in the midst of adversity. You have to continue to remind yourself of GOD’s purpose and honestly, if He brings you to it, He’ll bring you through it. MakeupRashaC doesn’t feel like a job…it’s my purpose, and purpose will always drive passion. My brand is not just a brand, it’s GOD’s work and I’m just fulfilling my purpose. I’m proud that I get to do something. I’m proud of the fact that the end goal is always in reach because I strive to be better than who I was yesterday. My clients/customers will always leave with the joy and optimism to accomplish any and all things. I pride myself in knowing that my purpose saved me, even when I wanted to abandon it.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?

Yes, we have a manufacturer for our products. I have vetted many manufacturers to ensure quality products for my. clients. I wanted to create products that I would use daily. When utilizing a manufacturer, always test your products multiple times and ask questions. I tried many vendors before I reached my current manufacturer. I also wore our products for months before deciding on the final product. Trust your gut and keep GOD at the center.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Delegate tasks and celebrate the small wins. I wanted to do everything alone and felt like it wasn’t done correctly if I hadn’t completed it. It wasn’t until I was filming content, taking photos, completing my website, being an administrator, etc., I knew I had to find help before I overworked myself. I’m a wife, mom, full-time employee, entrepreneur, etc. My burnout was approaching rapidly and I could feel it. The day I launch MakeupRashaC, I completed felt numb. I couldn’t enjoy the moment because I was so focused on the end goal. We tend to forget to celebrate every small moment. One sale is an accomplishment, one brand ambassador is an accomplishment, one like, share or comment is an accomplishment. Major corporations did not become multi millionaire companies in 24 hours, it takes dedication, focus, consistency, and hard work to reach that type of stature.
