Raquel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.

A defining moment for me has been realizing that I have been preparing for my destiny all of these years and I already have the tools within. In deciding to pursue my purpose by utilizing my skills in mental health and my passion for coaching and writing, I knew that I would be doing what I love. I started to have all of these amazing ideas come at me just when I got deep into the flow of self love and at the height of my healing journey. As the ideas poured out of me, I developed my business plan surrounding everything that I love to do and my company INNORAQ was born.

Raquel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am the CEO & Founder of Innoraq, a professional coaching, consulting, and training organization with a focus on inspiring self-love, innovating mental health, and influencing community change for helping professionals who are doing the work of serving others and oftentimes forget to take care of their own wellbeing. As a coach, I specialize in emotional and mental wellness as well as mindset, confidence and goal success. I have been working in behavioral health and human services for over ten years and have dedicated my career to servant leadership. As a consultant, I specialize in diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism and justice for organizations who truly want to build psychologically safe workplace cultures for helping professionals. As an organization, Innoraq offers courses, workshops, books, workbooks, journals, subscription boxes, events, and speaking engagements to further both personal and professional development. In order to influence community change, Innoraq serves as a partner for causes that uplift the human experience, break cycles of generational trauma, and build up the communities in which we serve. I look forward to fulfilling the vision that Innoraq has in our communities and the greater world.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?

Having a passion for helping others and a drive for making a real difference and impact on the world is necessary for success in my field and business. More than anything however, is the heart-centered purpose that I have for my life, that I help those in disadvantaged circumstances, that I use what I’ve been through to tell stories of resilience, strength, and encouragement, and that I speak to others in ways that are relatable to help them achieve their own goals, manifest their dreams, and live out their passions without limitations. All of this requires that I believe in my own capacity to make it happen and that no matter how difficult it may seem, that I face those fears and never give up.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I came from humble circumstances as a young girl growing up in South LA. Surrounded by strong women, I was destined to become resilient through anything that came my way. When I became a single mother in my mid-twenties, I was determined to obtain my degree and I did so with perseverance and determination. I had already served honorably in the military and I knew that education was something that always important to me. I’ve often worked multiple jobs to raise my son and build my career to give him a better life. Though parenting and building a career can become lonely and frustrating, I never made any excuses or have myself the option of giving up. I’ve helped so many people over my career so far and now I’m ready to make an even greater impact as an author and entrepreneur. I want to show my son that hard work and living in your passion and purpose can make all of your dreams come true.
