We recently connected with Raquel Marie Sims and have shared our conversation below.
Raquel Marie , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
When peeling back the layers and unveiling the true mission behind La’Marie Media, it’s evident that I’m building a platform for the Lord’s Kingdom. Ever since I was a little girl, the Lord placed the seeds of multimedia, creativity, and connecting with others in my heart. I never understood the visions God kept feeding me while growing up but they all make sense now. The mission of my company is beyond meaningful. It fuels me to know that I can use my God given gifts to bring any desired vision to fruition and produce key elements of a lifetime !
At La’Marie Media, our ultimate mission is to creatively envision, evolve and equip our clientele through our desired lenses of Multimedia, Public Relations, and Strategic Branding. Each lens is distinctly designed to develop efficient and effective campaigns that can elevate any brand. We are committed to putting our best foot forward in accomplishing our mission and bringing any vision to life.
La’Marie Media has two main mottos.
The first one is :Romans 12:2 which states,”Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.
The second one is : Be Bold, Don’t Fold & Come Through the Fire As Gold
I simply have to apply these mottos to my life everyday. Remembering that I can’t compare my life journey nor my success with anyone else’s, is key, what God has for me is for me. When it comes to the test of times, it’s essential to stand strong and come out on the other side shining bright and being a light for others to follow!
Raquel Marie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Raquel Marie Sims, also known as Lady Raq and Raquel the Writer just to name a few. I was born and raised in the heart of Houston, TX with springing roots from Los Angeles, California and Chattanooga, Tennessee. I received my highschool diploma from the Award Winning North Shore Senior High School as a top 10% graduate. Succeeding graduation, I got accepted into Southern University and A & M College on a track scholarship. Outside of the track, I was very active in the classroom and established a great rapport with my department professors and worked hand in hand with peers. While attending Southern University, I co-hosted the college radio show and received the Broadcast Radio & Television Outstanding Member Award in addition to the Multimedia Capstone Award. During senior year, I interned at the WAFB News Station in Baton Rouge, Louisiana working alongside multiple departments. In the Fall of 2015, I obtained my Bachelors of Science Degree in Mass Communications, graduating as the Student Marshall.
After graduation, things took a turn and I moved back to Houston and hit the ground running in the Mass Communication field. By the grace of God I had the ability to serve as host and co-host on various syndicated radio platforms, operated as the Producer and Talent at the Stafford Municipal Educational TV all while becoming a staple within the community. In 2018, I launched La’Marie Media, LLC and the rest was history.
My expertise lies within public relations, multimedia, and strategic branding. I work hands-on in the field of creative producing, project management, interviewing, hosting and more. I have a true passion for mass communications and I’m fueled by dedication and being an ultimate servant leader. As I look towards the future, my underlying goal is to serve with diligence and be a trailblazer for others to follow.
In addition, I am a firm believer in the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, He receives all of the Glory. When it comes to discipline and making key decisions it’s vital for me to consult with God who’s my ultimate business partner. A lot of people inquire why… and I simply respond with “He’s the one that sits high and looks low. He sees things we aren’t able to, so fully surrendering EVERY business deal for his approval is key…
In reference to La’Marie Media, we serve as an inspirational conglomerate based out of Houston, TX that operates under 3 lenses: Multimedia, Public Relations, and Strategic Branding. We serve as the ultimate one stop shop for our clients that provides options for packages, al a carte services and or to mix and match services from our different lenses into customized packages.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
About 2 years ago right before Christmas, my laptop and business plan journal was stolen out of my car. It was an immediate wake up call for me to realize that everything I worked for and planned out can be snatched away in a matter of seconds. That situation forced me to rebuild from the ground up. When thinking back on that night, I specifically heard God telling me to go straight home, but I didn’t listen and the result of me not being obedient led to that loss. Having gone through that moment made me realize that being spiritually discerning is extremely important and at any moment God will humble you.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
In May of 2022, I took the leap of faith and left the TV station I was working for. It took me way longer than I expected because I couldn’t let the stability go. However, God saw it fit for me to be elsewhere. It wasn’t until He made it so uncomfortable for me at the station, that it literally forced me out the door! The Lord had been drawing me out for years to put my full attention into La’Marie Media but I found myself being stubborn. There were times I felt like superwoman, editing till dawn and heading straight into work, not realizing how draining that was. My sleep schedule was way off and my health began to dwindle. I found myself asking what was key at the time which forced me to put my company on the back burner, knowing that’s not what God wanted.
The Lord’s ultimate goal was for me to thrive in what He was calling me to do, so taking the leap of faith and surrendering my will to His, was the pivot that made my side hustle turn into my full time career!
