We were lucky to catch up with Raquel Jensen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Raquel , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
At one of the first jobs I had, my boss would always teach us to lead with kindness and compassion. He would teach us to never discriminate against anyone and to treat everyone the same. Not only did this allow me to make meaningful friendships with many different people in that job, but it taught me that I wanted to have that same mindset with my photography business. Having this mindset of kindness allows you to connect with people in ways where they become your friend, not just your client. It has allowed me to make new friendships with many different people that I otherwise would not have today.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Raquel Jensen and I am a photographer in Utah! Growing up, photography was always an interest of mine. I loved taking pictures of everything, from my friends to the gorgeous mountains in my backyard. When I got older I started developing my passion more, and now I enjoy taking pictures for people professionally!
I would say one thing that I am currently most proud of is some pictures I took during a recent trip to San Francisco, California. I had the opportunity to go explore the city as well as some of the beaches and other landmarks! I was also able to take pictures of a few people in the city. I was very happy with the results and proud of how I really pushed myself to get out and try something new in a different environment!
I’m always looking for new clients and/or people to connect with and create something together!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
One thing I do to keep in touch with clients is I try to stay active and supportive in their lives! I can still leave a kind comment on their instagram page or send them a happy birthday message even when I’m not currently taking pictures for them! The thing I love most about photography is that it allows me to meet new people and cultivate new friendships with them ! Those relationships don’t have to end once we’re not working together anymore!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Being kind, supportive, and a good friend to my clients has been a good way for me to maintain relationships with current clients, which has lead to more future clients! It’s important to me that everyone feels comfortable while I’m photographing them because I know being in front of a camera is not always easy! I strive to make a connection with clients so they feel good about being their authentic selves in front of the camera.
