Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raquel Boone. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Raquel, thanks for joining us today. Alright, let’s jump into one of the most exciting parts of starting a new firm – how did you get your first client who was not a friend or family?
My first client actually was one of my first real estate investor buyers. She was pleased with he service I provided over the course of her investment purchases and was hitting a will when looking for someone to manage her property. I had been managing my own investment properties for over a decade successfully and I had shared some lessons learned. She was the catalyst in helping me begin my property management company. I began managing her properties and then others followed. It became a pretty well oiled conversion machine where I was able to turn my investor client into property management clients. Sharing my personal landlord and years of real estate experience were a real value add to gaining credibility with new clients. I was able add 10 properties to my portfolio within the first 2 years. I will forever be grateful to her for encouraging me to start the company.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been a Real Estate Agent since 2004. I watched the market crash in 2008 and all of the calamity it caused across the nation, which is why I have always pride my ethics in business. Understanding that real estate is a relationship business and connecting with people has always been a source of joy for me. I have always been interested in investing and wealth creation. I began QRAQ Enterprises, LL, my property management business as an extension of my real estate service to help others grow and maintain their investments. I enjoy being able to educate clients on the wide ranging topics and scenarios that come up when managing properties, managing tenants and ensuring compliance with local regulations. I think what sets my company apart from others is the level of service, commitment and willingness to manage in underserved communities. Sometimes they are more complex, as they add another level of government coordination, which means more work, but I welcome the challenges. .

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think one of the best stores that demonstrates my resilience is when conducting a video tour of a prospective property for a client. I agreed to visit the property a few days after a pretty bad snowstorm. The snow had begun to melt away, but the temperatures were still pretty cold, which meant there were ice patches here and there. I was having what I considered a pretty decent tour in the house and decided to include the rear yard as part of the tour, As I stepped out the back door and began down the steps, I slipped on ice and took a tumble and so did the phone I was recording on. After I gathered myself and got up, I began looking for the phone and after A while I located it up against the fence, still recording. It captured the fall and my less than gracious rise from the ground. It was funny when I look back on it. I was able to make the sale and subsequently began managing the property, so it was certainly worth it. My client was very grateful as well.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my level of service and ability to relate to my clients helps build my reputation. I have been told that my clients learn a lot from me during the process and I enjoy teaching. So I guess that’s the golden egg!
