We were lucky to catch up with Raphael Bahindwa recently and have shared our conversation below.
Raphael, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
It all start with you knowing your craft and your goals. And it’s really important to surround yourself with positivity and love.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Raphael Bahindwa, I was born in the DRC (Congo). Now, I’m currently living in Atlanta, GA. I’m a Fine Artist disciplined in Painting. I received a B.F.A. in Painting from SCAD Atlanta. Throughout my time at SCAD, I was able to sharpen my skills on the canvas. I move to American with a dream of wanting to become an artist. Back home in the Congo, artists are not as respected like here in America. Without a support system, it can be really tough for an artists to make it out there in the art world.
I’m really blessed that I have my family and friends, always on my side to support my dreams and goals.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The best way to start building your audience, first, is to know yourself, and to be yourself, second, is to know your audience, or viewers, and third, is to be consistent on your work, if you consider yourself an artist.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Just the experience of leaving my country to come here in America, was a moment that I will definitely never forget. In the Congo, America is considered as a powerful nation, and for me to be here, it really is a blessing. My parents sacrifice a lot for me to be here, and for me to chase my dreams. I will always be grateful and resilient for their hard work and love.
