We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ranysha Martin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ranysha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.
As a personal trainer, there are several gyms and trainers that saturate the field. I began working with Q. Cole at The Fitness Center of Lilburn and he acted as my boss and mentor. Outside of the physical aspect of training , he set out time to help me structure my business and advised me of the pros and cons of the personal training business, while never letting me become discouraged. through his support and encouragement, he ensured I understood no matter what , not to give up but to keep going. While working alongside Q, I learned how to track my clients’ sessions and how to make sure they are getting what they need from me in their fitness journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ranysha “Nysha” Martin. I am the CEO and founder of Fierce Fitness ATL, LLC. I am a proud mother of a beautiful daughter and certified Personal Trainer. I love fitness. My love for fitness began around 2018 when I realized my weight gain was no longer comfortable to me. I didn’t feel attractive and my self image began to change. At that time, I decided to make a change. That change began with me taking time for myself daily to start going to the gym, eating healthier food and slowly but surely losing weight to recreate my image. After I began to know my own body composition and understand the most effective way to lose weight and rebuild my confidence, I knew this was something I could share with the world and other women that may need the same push. I’m that epiphany, I began my fitness brand, Fierce Fitness ATL.
I have lived through the same struggles that a good amount of my clients present to me at the beginning of their journey. I use personal training and weight loss assistance along with motivation and positive affirmations to aid my clients in rebuilding themselves and their own personal brand. I have helped hundreds of women and men lose weight, gain weight and/or meet their fitness goals over time. Taking time and exercising discipline in my own life has allowed me to create a brand that also helps people take charge of their own lives.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I feel understanding the ups and downs of the journey from my own personal experience helps me in being the best fit for my clients. I understand the thought process and expectations we sometimes bestow upon ourselves that can cause discouraging thoughts while on a fitness journey. I use that first hand knowledge and experience to design plans specifically for each client.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to learn is that not everyone is as driven as the next person, or even myself. At times, I would equate my own experiences and project them onto my clients and it caused me a lack of understanding that even though my journey was hard, some people may need a different approach to their plan in reaching their goals.
