We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful RANISHA BOWEN. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with RANISHA below.
Hi RANISHA, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
As a graphic designer, I am able to create others visions as well as my own. When clients come to me about a design they need I am very detailed in getting the specifics. I have had clients come to me without a vision, which has allowed me and my creativity to soar. I live for those clients because the creativity is limitless and they are always beyond satisfied, as well am I.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ra’Nisha. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. I’ve always had a niche for creativity. It started with me writing and publishing four short story and poetry books. I had gotten writers block and needed another creative outlet. That’s when I discovered crafting. I got into making custom earrings, tshirts, shoes, hoodies, etc. Buying designs became to expensive for my items, so I decided to learn graphic designs and fell in love.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In 2021, I contracted Covid-19. Even though I was fully vaccinated I was still hospitalized for nine days. I drove myself to urgent care, waited for half an hour to be seen; all the while I’m getting worse. By the time I was finally seen, my oxygen levels were at 80 and dropping. I took a covid test that came back negative. I was rushed to emergency where I was retested and the results came back positive with pneumonia. I also contracted a bladder and kidney infection. I thought I was dying. I actually was. Nothing was working for me at the time. The doctors wanted to put me on a ventilator, but I refused because I needed to be able to communicate what was going on.
I was taken back to covid solidarity wing and looked the nurse in the eyes and asked her to not let me die.
That was and still is the most terrifying time of my life.
I lost my job because of covid. My health declined significantly. I battled daily with anxiety.
But I’m still here. I’m still fighting. I have a purpose.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve always been kind of comical and had a lot of social media associates, so getting business wasn’t too difficult. I also found out that associates don’t mean customers and strangers will support before friends and family will. With that being said I joined a lot of groups, posted my work, created a business page, and continued to share daily.
