We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ranier Acosta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ranier below.

Ranier, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

I’ve never thought about this before. Honestly, no. I used to think I started late because, you hear about all these people and how they’ve been acting since they were eight or nine. But after working as an actor in these last few years, I realized that I might have started at the right time. I’ve had a pretty lucky year and my experience and skill has been very even matched to people who have been doing it for a while but, everyone’s progress is different. I started acting when I was sixteen.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’ve always been a movie fanatic. This is because I used to go to the theater with my mom as long as I can remember to watch superhero movies. After all those years, I decided to try acting since my school had a drama program. After that I studied in college in NY and LA and the rest is history. I’m very proud of where I am right now. I’ve had a very good beginning of my career and it’s just meant to keep getting better and better since it keeps catching momentum.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My family. I’m from Dominican Republic and I came to the US for a dream. Just like millions of people do. I’ve sacrificed a lot and of course I’m looking for it to pay off. My family has been my biggest supporter and helper and I have to pay them back somehow. That is by making them proud. That’s why I’m here.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

When I lived in New York, I used to wake up every morning at 5am and go to casting offices to be one of the first people to audition for theater pieces. If they had one on Saturday or Sunday, I was there that early. I did it for so long and never got tired. My life is all about resilience, determination and discipline. If I want to achieve big things, I have to work big.
