We were lucky to catch up with Ranessa Villalba recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ranessa, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

I think people will remember me as a person who always aspired to grow in my life and business. I want people to remember me as a woman who went after her dream and lived it successfully. Being an entrepreneur has definitely had its pros and cons but I have continued to pursue my dreams and make them a reality.

Ranessa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I started as a t-shirt company called Biker Beauty. I was a biker chick in a time where there weren’t many around. There were no clothing lines for me to wear so I created my own with different catchphrases. That launched Biker Beauty which is still a line I sell. I have since then created lines called Chola Beauty and Lowrider Beauty. 10 years into having my business I purchased a fashion truck and that launched Sugar & Spiked Beautique. I sell novelty handbags and pinup clothing. We do the fair circuit throughout California. Our truck has a very original design and stands out no matter where we go. It helps us standout while at events. We try to provide the best customer service and cater to plus size women as well. Being a plus size woman in this industry is not always easy. But we are beautiful in our own way. I want people to know I run my business with love and integrity. I always want people to feel happy when they buy something from my store.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Being in the fair circuit it has brought me a lot of new clients. I get to meet the most amazing people.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Buying my fashion truck took my business to another level. It was the best investment I made in the history of my business. I am looking to sell my fashion truck soon to give someone else an opportunity to grow their business.
