We recently connected with Randy Waczkowski and have shared our conversation below.
Randy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry?
It is common in media production for Corporate America to see the job, point and shoot, post-production, and then move on to the next project. It is my mission to tell the story of the people, to capture the human experience, and to let people have a voice in their community rather than having the media tell their story for them. It is our goal to provide positive connections to the community and to provide them with resources they may not have been aware of.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Growing up, I have always felt that from camera operators to script writers, we need more representation in the media field. Music has always been a passion of mine since I was a kid. I had the opportunity to go from being a DJ in middle school to producing scores for TV shows that air all over the world now. Growing up, I also had a fascination for photography, and evolved from it as a hobby to becoming a cinematographer. Over the years, I’ve learned how to combine all the creative elements I learned and was mentored in to tell the stories from the community. I look forward to further capturing beautiful moments through my lens and sharing them with the world.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
In the long run, I would like my business to evolve into a multimedia organization. By merging broadcast and film, we will be able to tell the stories of our community more effectively. The Novel Series within my company is an example of Pixar storytelling that investigates mental health conditions that permit sci-fi characters to be relatable to viewers. In essence, I am looking forward to bringing to Atlanta what the new film studios will not be able to provide, the ability to allow the community here to have their say rather than have their stories narrated for them by others.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I believe that relationships are a pillar of my company’s success. The goal is to create a sense of belonging to your audience that goes beyond their involvement with your brand. To work for my company, you must have a passion for this industry. Therefore, you want to make sure that the project was crafted from the heart. A person’s passion shows in their work and when it is applied to their projects, their clients can discern whether that passion is genuine. It is always a pleasure to have lunch or dinner with my clients and talk about life; you never know what you will learn from them. It is unfortunate that as a society, we have started viewing people as numbers and data analytics, but then become confused when their businesses slow down or people unsubscribe from their services. I can proudly say that I have the honor to know my clients personally and bring their visions to life.
