We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Randy Trevino a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Randy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today.
If I were to start anew in the wedding photography and video business today, I’d double down on the digital side of things from the very beginning. Knowing just how much social media and online marketing have transformed the industry, I’d put my energy into building a strong online presence. That means not just posting photos, but really crafting a strategy around SEO and social media to draw in clients who are looking for exactly what I offer.
I’d also network like never before, but smarter. Forming alliances with wedding planners, venues, and fellow vendors would be a top priority to get those referrals flowing in. It’s about creating a community that supports and grows together.
And storytelling? That would be my mantra. I’d take every chance to tell a couple’s story in a way that truly reflects their bond, making each project more than just a job—it’d be a personal mission to capture the heart and soul of their love story. That’s the kind of work that doesn’t just deliver a service but creates an experience that stays with the couple for life.
On a personal note, I’d trust in my skills more from the start. Looking back, I realize I was more ready than I thought to compete in this market. The lesson? Believe in your work, promote it with confidence, and don’t shy away from growth.

Randy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We’re Randy and Olga Treviño of Haziel Photo and Films. We’ve been married for over 24 years and our business is a true reflection of our journey together. We fell into wedding photography and videography because we believe in love that lasts. We’re all about capturing those real, raw emotions and moments that tell the story of a couple’s special day.
Randy, the laid-back one, has an eye for the understated moments, while Olga, the spark, ensures every photo and video is bursting with life. We’re here to make memories that you can look back on and feel the same joy you did on your wedding day. That’s what we’re proud of—creating something that stands the test of time, just like our own love story.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Our best source of new clients has definitely been through Google search. It’s fascinating that about 80% of our couples discover us by looking up wedding photography and videography online and stumbling upon our website. This really highlights the importance of a strong online presence and the power of search engine visibility in connecting us with clients who love what we do.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Our strong reputation comes from the great reviews our clients leave, which show new people they can trust us. It also helps that our website and YouTube videos really show off the quality of our work. Plus, we’re known for being friendly and treating everyone well, whether it’s our clients or other vendors. This has made a big difference, making people feel good about working with us and sharing the word.
