Randi M, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Too often the media represents innovation as something magical that only high-flying tech billionaires and upstarts engage in – but the truth is almost every business owner has to regularly innovate in small and big ways in order for their businesses to survive and thrive. Can you share a story that highlights something innovative you’ve done over the course of your career?

One of the most exciting things about cooking is the freedom to put your own twist on cuisines old and new. In 2017 I randomly began to make egg rolls with unique gourmet flavors and fillings. Later that year I branded and trademarked a name and decided to give it a go at a small town festival. Now my concept, known as EFF-N ROLLZ is making its way on the invitee list to events near and far.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I started RMashelle Catering by default in 2006. I always loved to entertain friends and make a meal, it was a weekly thing with my family growing up. Food, music and fun. I was asked by a close friend to cook for her baby shower with 30+ guests. I was terrified but something about the challenge kept me going. It turned out to be a hit and it was then that I realized my true passion.

Here we are 15 years later and I now offer personal and private chef services, catering, event planning, decor, and meal prep. We also outsource servers and bar tenders. All services are available in Atlanta, Nashville, Tampa, plus we travel!

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

Social media presence is very important. I also offer incentives, free products and services for referrals, long time customers and new customers.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

Be transparent, don’t tell your team what you think they want to hear. Keep them up to speed on the good and the bad, and always have a resolution plan for the bad. It is also important to show recognition and let people know their contributions are appreciated.
