We recently connected with Rande Leaman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rande, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
There are several very meaningful interior design projects I’ve had the good fortune to work on. One of my favorite things that clients have said to me is how much a newly remodeled home has affected their lives. Good design can change the way you live in your space- it enhances your quality of life. A lovely couple I just finished working with had several spaces they didn’t know what to do with and therefore they were unused. They recently told me they now truly live in every room of their house. The formerly unused living room is now a beautiful space to sit with their daughter and read at night. They gather as a family to watch movies in the new family room, and the kitchen now has a “lounge” area that’s perfect for friends to hang out and chat with the person cooking. I’m always concerned with function and ease of use when designing a new kitchen, as well as making it the most beautiful it can be. The vibrant addition of color throughout the home has affected this family tremendously. Seeing my clients enjoying their new remodel is so meaningful and the best thanks I can get!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am the owner and principal designer of a busy residential interior design firm that specializes in remodels and new builds in Los Angeles. One of the most important skills I have is really listening to my clients and translating their wishes into a beautiful, timeless design. Renovations can be stressful, and I pride myself in steering clients through this journey in a calm and enjoyable way. Whether the style is contemporary or traditional, my goal is to make the home completely reflective of my clients. Your home should tell your story, and I love incorporating favorite family heirlooms or treasured collections into the design. We have a great team of trusted local contractors, tradespeople, and artisans who facilitate our designs. Our clients appreciate the communication, dedication, talent and expertise we bring to their projects.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I’m extremely fortunate to wake up every day excited to do interior design for a living. Every single project is different, every day is different, and I’m able to stretch my creativity with each new job. I’m always learning (from books, classes, other designers) and that helps fuel my creativity and better my designs.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation is built on how I treat people and having a strong work ethic. I love what I do and I believe that enthusiasm helps people enjoy the process with me. Clients recommend me to their friends because they have loved the experience and love living in their beautiful, newly remodeled home.
