We recently connected with Randall Pulfer and have shared our conversation below.
Randall, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Ideas are a dime a dozen. I am a firm believer that it is the execution of the idea that separates the successful businesses from the rest. In our case, we initially had the idea for Chipp Golf Company back during the peak of the pandemic in the summer of 2020. The concept was simple: golf gloves are boring. Additionally, golf as an industry was booming while the world as a whole was struggling. We wanted to solve all of these problems with Chipp Golf Co through fun and unique golf gloves where a portion of every sale is donated to charity.
The first step for us was the find a manufacturer to make the product. After months of research and rounds of samples, we finally selected our manufacturer over a year later. This step took way longer than we had initially thought but was well worth it as we have a great partner who makes a high quality product for us to build our brand on. From there we had to come up with a few designs and actually come up with enough money to place the order. Through our own savings, we were able to order our initial two designs (our “Texas Hole’em” and “Feelin’ Lucky” designs) along with packaging for us to be able to sell these gloves.
We had to wait a few months to receive the product and in the mean time we worked on our website, social media, and overall operational structure to be able to hit the ground running once we received the gloves. By the time we received the product, we were already two years past the initial concept of the business! This was one of the biggest surprises to us as there was so much behind the scenes work that goes into a product as simple as a golf glove.
At this point, we have gone from concept to physical product. Now we had to sell it! We naively thought, “We have a great product that is unlike anything else on the market, these will sell out in no time.” Wrong! We had to learn a ton about social media marketing and product branding to get us where we are today where we have 8 designs and are fully operational on our website. Check out all of our fun designs at www.chippgolfco.com!

Randall, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We create premium cabretta leather golf gloves with fun and unique designs and a portion of every sale donated to various charities whose missions are the inspirations behind many of our designs. The whole idea for our golf gloves came from one day walking into a golf shop looking to buy a glove and only seeing one color: white. Why were other golf products and apparel so colorful and fun but golf gloves were still stuck in black and white? We could not find the answer so we created it! No one in the market is making golf gloves with the fun icons and themes we are. We also pride ourselves on delivering a high quality product that is able to compete with the major players in the industry and think we have been able to execute on that.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my co-founder Tyler in college when we both joined the same fraternity. We connected immediately on having entrepreneurial aspirations and would meet regularly to brainstorm different business ideas. We actually started a business together in college (story for another time) and I knew that when I had the idea for Chipp Golf Company that Tyler would be my first call.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We put customers at the forefront of everything we do. We pride ourselves on delivering a high quality product that our customers like and see the value in over the competition. By listening to customer feedback, offering loyalty discounts, and continually designing new products our customers will enjoy, we hope to turn existing customers into repeat buyers, which in a business like this is the ultimate compliment we can receive.
