We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Randall Engstrom . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Randall below.
Hi Randall, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
The retail and textile industry is the 2nd largest polluter behind the oil/plastic industry. I didn’t want to contribute more to that, so everything we focus on has a positive message of how it’s made or how they give back by falling under 3 important categories; Local, Eco Friendly, and Charitable.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
The concept was born over 16 years ago, but saving and developing the concept took 10 years. It’s fun to reflect on the entire process after reaching each anniversary. They come and go so fast it’s nice to take time to reflect on the growth and changes over those years. We offer a fun, positive, stress free environment for locals and visitors to shop for beach essentials and gifts with no negative impact to the environment or our community. In fact by supporting our mission you are ensuring more people locally and globally are getting shoes on their feet to prevent foot born illnesses and diseases and to have the opportunity to better themselves, their families, and their communities.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
As a new business you will be the target of lots of sales calls and visits. Everyone wants a piece of the new business in town. It’s important to trust yourself and your ideas before handing over money to these predators. I’ve always believed in starting small and bubbling outward. To do this your number one focus should be your local community and word of mouth marketing. This is the best way to build a local following and trust in the community. Once that is established you will have no problem garnering the attention of our visitors as most visitors want to follow in the locals footsteps. Many people will call you foolish not to invest in their marketing schemes, but stay true to yourself and believe in what you are building. Slow and steady may not be glamorous, but it builds a solid foundation to continue to build on.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
There’s nothing better than hearing a new customer mention they heard about you through about her person. This means people are not only talking about your business, but they are so happy about supporting your mission they want others to know as well. I consider this the most important marketing tool at a businesses disposal. If people are not buying into the business mission, then your business will not succeed.
