We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rana Rose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rana below.
Rana, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
After working for other organizations for the last 30 years as an Accountant, I decided to start my company Accounting with a Purpose, LLC because I reached a point in my career that I no longer wanted to be guided by another organization’s vision. I wanted to chart my own path to create my own vision. With God’s blessing, I have forged ahead to make that a reality.
This new journey is a labor of love. Not in my wildest dreams, I envisioned myself as an entrepreneur but God had other plans. He told me to step out on faith to start this new journey and I obeyed. My thought process for starting my business was to serve small businesses and hope my company’s partnership with them would become an integral part of their success story. In essence, if they succeed I succeed.
Even though there are many talented bookkeepers that offer the same service, I knew my company’s competitive advantage would be the offer of “partnership,” “value,” and “guidance.” Additionally, I knew if I could provide my expertise to corporate entities to help in their long-term success then doing it for myself while challenging would be more rewarding. I am excited to serve others and see the return on investment that my clients will enjoy by entering a business relationship with my company.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Rana Rose, owner of Accounting with a Purpose, LLC. I am a new emptynester who loves to travel and a sports fanatic who loves watching professional football (NFL) and professional basketball (NBA).
Before I knew my career path, I knew I loved working with numbers. During my formative years in high school, I was always the one who was excited for Math class. Before long, I became the tutor for several of my schoolmates that were failing in that class. When it was time to think about college, I wanted to major in an area that I could really thrive in as a student and later as a career. I chose Accounting and haven’t looked back. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and my MBA.
Before I dared to become an entrepreneur, I worked as an Accounting professional for 30 years and had the opportunity to work with different types of companies to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and drive growth. During my corporate career, I had the privilege of being the financial steward for budgets ranging from $10M to upwards of $280M as well. Due to the wealth of knowledge, education, and experience gained on my corporate journey, I decided to use my expertise by pivoting from corporate to becoming an entrepreneur.
With God’s blessing, I started my company Accounting with a Purpose, LLC. Passionate about giving back to my community, I’m based in the greater Dallas, TX area but I service clients across the US. My business helps small businesses invest in themselves by providing bookkeeping, income tax, and consulting services resulting in revenue growth and tax savings. My company not only provide businesses with their financial information but we serve as their financial partner to guide and educate them to ensure they are equipped with the proper information to make sound business decisions.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
When I first started on my entrepreneurial journey, I did encounter issues trying to acquire clients. As I realized sales wasn’t my strong suit, I hired a sales coach to give me the tools to turn leads into clients. The three valuable lessons learned from my sales coach were the following:
Ask the right questions
Networking
Building relationships
These three lessons have paid dividends for my business. I am booking at least 10 consultations a week or more and at least a fifth of those are becoming clients. “Networking” is the key to a new business success and is the most effective strategy for growing your clientele.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for my business has been through networking, social media, and word of mouth. From my connections through networking, I have gotten new clients because most of my connections are referral partners. We are all in this together to help each other succeed.
