We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rami Kalla. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rami below.
Rami, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Some of the biggest trends that I see in my industry and is the excitement around the Metaverse. We have been producing content in VR/AR for the past several years. However, COVID became the catalyst that really helped to drive this industry as everyone was forced to find creative ways to work remotely. Now with Facebooks push to create a Metaverse, of interconnected virtual worlds, everyone is now talking about it!
Rami, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I feel in love with film when I was 10 years old. My Father brought home one of those old video cameras and I was immediately drawn to it! I started making films with my friends and family and was known around the neighborhood as the film kid. I loved telling creative stories! Fast forward 12 years and I was working in Corporate America and was very disenchanted with the whole system. I left after only 3.5 years and started Point in Time. We began creating small corporate videos to now we create Immersive VR/AR experiences, National Commercials and 3D Animation. We have had the honor to work with such Awesome customers such as Ford, McDonalds and PetsMart!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Focus on your team! When I realized it wasn’t all about me, that’s when things started to happen! The lie is that we have to know everything and do everything for ourselves. When I’m hiring these incredible artists, it’s because they do things I can’t do.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I began to focus on a specific niche and I just made sure to specialize in a couple of things within that niche market. People will always pay more for a Specialist vs. a Generalist. I also made sure to love on our customers and truly go above and beyond their expectations. I know it sounds cliche, but it truly makes a difference. Customers will come back to you time and again when they know you have their backs!
